The United States secretly shipped more than 500 tons of uranium from Iraq, dating back to the Saddam Hussein era the Pentagon said Monday. The type of uranium is “Yellow Cake”. This was the same type of uranium that a big political storm erupted over because the President said Saddam was acquiring in a state of the union address. The department of defense reported that 37 flights made up of 110 containers were moved to Canada.

Why was Saddam Hussein stockpiling this uranium? They have no nuclear power plants so they do not need to enrich it for energy. The use of this material had to be for weapons. In its current state it could be used for panic creating “Dirty Bombs” after an enriching process it could be used for power generation or nuclear weapons!

In a story by the BBC that goes back to 2003 this material was know about. In the story U.N. Weapons inspector Mohamed ElBaradei feared it was missing and could land in the hands of Iranians or contaminate Iraq.

This story of the shipment began breaking in the U.S. in early July 2008. Why hasn’t there been more coverage of this? Even more important why did our government not tell us about this back in the days when liberals were accusing the President of lying over WMD? The big news in the early days of the Iraq war was that the WMD had not been found? This is proof that there at least was a serious weapons program.

A leaked letter that Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.) sent letters to federal Regulators asking them to more closely monitor the financial health of IndyMac, the thrift operator based in Pasadena, California, had helped create a run on that bank. Senator Schumer wrote:

Concerned that IndyMac’s financial deterioration poses significant risks to both taxpayers and borrowers and that the regulatory community may not be prepared to take measures that would help prevent the collapse of IndyMac

In the 11 days after this letter depositors removed billions of dollars from the bank. John D. Hawke, the U.S. comptroller of the currency, called the leak “reckless and grossly irresponsible.”

Schumer attempts to write the story off as “Blaming the fire on the person who dialed 911″. However it must be understood that Schumer, while sitting on the Senate Banking committee has inside information on the situation. Just because he has it does not mean he should release it. If Schumer were on the board of directors of a private company and he released information on the health of a company while they were working out issues and as a result shares of the company were bought or sold based on the info, he would be indicted for insider trading.

Why would Schumer do this? Because he suffers from a situation that afflict many Democrats. The worse off things in America are the better it is for Democrats. Schumer did not think twice about doing this. He went for the political angle instinctively.

Suddenly Barack Obama sounds like someone every republican should consider voting for. In the last month he has changed positions on a variety of issues:

• He now supports the second ammendment right to bear arms.
• He now opposes late-term abortion.
• He supports faith-based institutions to deliver public services.
• He now says that he won’t raise Social Security taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. In the primaries he wanted to eliminate the cap. We reported that would make a 62% tax bracket for someone earning a million dollars a year(so why work?).
• He now opposes the Fairness Doctrine for talk radio.
• He now says he will consult with the military before pulling out of Iraq.

He knows that he could not get elected with the positions that he had in the primaries — so he is moving to the center. I’m happy he is seeing reality on Iraq. However, I do believe if elected he will govern from the left — a left leaning congress and senate will insure that.

This week Senator Barack Obama said he will forgo public funding of his campaign in the general election. He promised many times he would use public financing. I guess you can count lies as change? For the first time since Watergate a person running for President will not accept public funding, and the person is Obama. We can count that as bad change.

He says its because the Republicans will use 527 groups and that McCain will not tell them to stop. However he knows it’s illegal for a candidate to tell a 527 to stop so thats an Obama lie. 527’s are protected by law to be independent, they can not talk to the candidate and the candidate can not talk to them.  It is interesting because the only groups so far to use nasty 527’s advertisements were the George Soros funded super left leaning MoveOn.org. The commercial they put out was a distortion of Senator McCain’s comments about the US staying engaged in the world. I am not going to link to it because you have probably seen it and I personally refuse to give it free publicity.

The real reason Senator Obama wants to forgo public funding is so that he can keep buying commercials telling you he wants change. He does not want you to know the change he wants is bad, like buying elections and raising your taxes.

At what point will Senator Obama and the Democrats have to accept that we and the Iraqi government are winning the war? Does Obama and the Democrats not know about about developments in Iraq? Below are many successes happening in Iraq in the last few months that we are not hearing. These are from well respected sources such as the New York Times and PBS News:

1. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki sent the Iraqi army into Basra to quell the Mahdi Army. The Mahdi’s are led by Iranian Backed Muqtada Al-Sadr. Al-Sadr is responsible for much of the Iraqi civilian, Iraqi Military and American deaths. The Iraqi army drove out the Mahdi Army and seized the ports from Iranian-backed militias. 2. Defeated the Mahdi Army in Najaf, Karbala, Hilla, Kut, Nasiriyah and Diwaniyah
3. With no American ground forces, the Iraqi army entered and occupied Sadr City suburb of Baghdad. Sadr City is a Mahdi Army stronghold. This article from PBS
4. The Iraqi parliament enacted de-Baathification This was one of the Items that Democrats would we needed beside military success, that Iraq needed political reform and reunification was what was needed. De-Bathification has happened with vetted ex Saddam Hussein military. These skilled well vetted officers who were Iraqi Patriots and not Saddam henchmen can once again serve Iraq.
5. Parliament passed reconciliation benchmarks a pension law, an amnesty law, and provincial elections and powers law. The highly important Oil sharing is now happening by a parliamentary government budgeting process. This article from the New York Times

So why do the democrats and Obama refuse to recognize this? The answer is that they have no political advantage to do so. Senator Harry Reid claimed the war was lost. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi called the war a failure. Barrack Obama on his own website still says we need to turn a page in Iraq and leave regardless of the drastically improving situation

If Obama were to declare that the war has turned and we are winning it discounts everything he believes. In 2006 the Democrats won with a theme of ending the war, not winning it. It is going to be interesting when General Petraeus reports in July 2008 that the surge has met its military goals and most of it’s political goals.

Thank you Republicans for finally acting like conservatives. This week the Republicans in the Senate blocked a bill that would increase gas prices. The Socialists like Bernie Sanders and Maxine Waters (who mistakenly admitted she is a socialist), will never accept that a free market is the answer. If there is a free market they will lose power. I ask you the question, “What experience does Maxine Waters or Bernie Sanders have in running any business, let alone the Oil Companies?” These are people who can not even run their own failing cafeteria, which they are finally voting to privatize.

It’s about time that the congress and environmentalists started to accept blame for what they have done to energy in this country.

The Canadians are drilling just the other side of the border from ANWAR and are selling us the oil. The Chinese and Cubans are drilling in international waters off of Florida. (I guess we trust them to be environmentally safe). The Democrats have no answers and its mainly Bush/Republican bash. If we had drilled back in 2002 we would have a lot of that oil on line now. We also turn our backs on nuclear power. Both France and Sweden get almost 80% of their energy form nuclear. They signed on to Kyoto didn’t they? If Democrats and far left Environmentalists say its unsafe, I hate to tell them we have been operating plants for years.

The Brazilians use flex fuel cars that are made right in Detroit, 71% of their cars run on flex fuel. The flex fuel they use is not corn based as ours, it is based on sugar. Brazil is the Saudi Arabia of sugar. So why don’t we import ethanol and sugar from Brazil? Because U.S. trade barriers make Brazilian ethanol and sugar expensive to buy. What are the Democrats solution? Bash oil companies, bash Bush and hope you don’t notice its Democrats and the far left Environmentalists costing you $4.00 per gallon.

If you have been around here since April you may remember I wrote a post claiming Hillary was staying in the race to negotiate with Barack Obama to get him to pay her bills. Some people disagreed with me. Well it looks like I have some vindication. According to an article in the Telegraph of London, Mrs. Clinton is now doing exactly that.

One source close to a major donor said: “It’s not about the vice-presidency or any other position she might get. It’s about the money – in particular the Clinton family money.” The Obama campaign might have to reach deeply into its well-stocked coffers in order to secure the full support of Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill in the November general election.

Now my next presumption, Hillary wants to refill the family coffers to be able to run again in 2012 after she sinks Obama’s 2008 campaign.

Last week Congress passed a bill that would allow the United States to sue OPEC for disrupting the supply of oil.

“This bill guarantees that oil prices will reflect supply and demand economic rules, instead of wildly speculative and perhaps illegal activities,” said Democratic Rep. Steve Kagen of Wisconsin, who sponsored the legislation.

The bill specifically states that it is illegal:

(1) to limit the production or distribution of oil, natural gas, or any other petroleum product;
(2) to set or maintain the price of oil, natural gas, or any petroleum product; or
(3) to otherwise take any action in restraint of trade for oil, natural gas, or any petroleum product;

Democrats in Congress, the exact same people sponsoring this bill, just last week voted to continue an effective moratorium on US oil shale development. No country is doing less to develop oil reserves than the US.

If this bill passes the Senate with the veto proof majority that it did in Congress, I think the oil companies or some corporation who has been hurt by high energy costs can sue the United States using this bill on the grounds that we are not “guarantying that oil prices will reflect supply and demand economic rules”. The Congress is limiting the production or distribution of oil, natural gas, and any other petroleum product, by not allowing drilling in ANWAR or off the shores of New Jersey, Florida or California. This is all while the Chinese are drilling in international waters just off the coast of Florida and the Canadians are Drilling just their side of the border of ANWAR.

Recently Barack Obama has told people to lay off his wife. He has good reason for it other than chivalry. Evidence is now coming out that Michelle Obama (formerly Michelle Robinson) is a black separatist in much the style of 60’s Black Panther radical Stokely Carmichael

While at Princeton she wrote her thesis on just this subject. The thesis is very difficult to read and at much times seems like gibberish, however the main idea comes across. Christopher Hitchens has written an excellent post on Frontpage magazine about it:

Michelle Obama announces that she’s much influenced by the definition of black “separationism” offered by Stokely Carmichael and Charles Hamilton in their 1967 screed Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America. I remember poor Stokely Carmichael quite well. After a hideous series of political and personal fiascos, he fled to Africa, renamed himself Kwame Toure after two of West Africa’s most repellently failed dictators, and then came briefly back to the United States before electing to die in exile. I last saw him as the warm-up speaker for Louis Farrakhan in Madison Square Garden in 1985, on the evening when Farrakhan made himself famous by warning Jews, “You can’t say ‘Never Again’ to God, because when he puts you in the ovens, you’re there forever.”

There is another item on this subject that I came across while listening to the John Batchelor Show on WABC Radio. During the show Larry Johnson of No Quarter Blog claims that there is a video tape in the hands of Republicans that shows Michelle Obama on an Anti White screaming rant that will chill many people to their souls. Could this be the October surprise that Hillary is warning the super delegates about?

With the Memorial day holiday past us, my family had our traditional barbecue. We did it right in the back yard so the gas it costs to drive somewhere did not hurt. What causes pain is that the cost of food has gone sky high. It is easy to say “Well the gas prices have effected food”, they need energy to produce and transport the food. However there is a pork barrel (figuratively not my family famous ribs) bill in congress that is the absolute worst earmark this nation has ever seen.

This bill is a $289 billion pig fest. The Republicans have forgotten the core values of fiscal responsibility and duty to the taxpayer when they voted this bill out of Congress. The Democrats are buying farm state votes and believe in socialism.

When farm subsidies were created in the 1930s, Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace called them “a temporary solution to deal with an emergency.” That emergency was collapsing small farm incomes affecting the 25 percent of the population living on farms producing food at that time.

Who are the taxpayers subsidizing? Not the family mom and pop farmers struggling to stay on the land. The recipients of this bill are millionaire commercial farmers who report an average income of $200,000 and a net worth of nearly $2 million. President Bush proposed limiting farm subsidies to those earning less than $200,000 a year, but that was rejected.

Republicans have blown a big opportunity here to go back to their base and show they are fiscally responsible small government lawmakers. This was a perfect opportunity — unfortunately, they will not have many more chances.
