I Glad I Don’t Have To Vote In The Democrat Primary For 26th CD

The gloves are off in the final days of the Democrat Primary for NY 26 Congressional race.  Here are Jack Davis’ and Jon Powers’ hard hitting commercials. The sad part is that both look fair and accurate to me.

To top it off City Newspaper had this to say about the third candidate Alice Kryzan:

A troubling aspect of Kryzan’s background is that, early in her career, she represented Occidental Chemical in litigation brought by Love Canal residents. She ultimately helped settle the lawsuit.

Here are the commercials:

Yesterday’s D&C Story On the 26th CD — What A Joke!

I must admit, I got excited yesterday when I saw the story on the front page of the D&C on Chris Lee and the 26th CD.  That was until I actually read the article.

With the Democratic Primary less than two weeks away, we have commented on how bad their coverage has been.  At least 150,000 people in Monroe County live in that district, but if you want to know what’s going on, you have to read the Buffalo News.

Jack Davis (or that Davis Kid as Congresswoman Slaughter has been overheard calling him) makes a comment about how we are on the verge of a civil war because of all the Mexicans living in this country and no one in Monroe County knows about it.  Jon Powers was arrested your years ago for an obscenity laden tirade against a police officer and there are all kinds of questions about the centerpiece of his experience, his resume building War Kids Relief that provided him with more money than the Iraqi children Jon was so concerned about and you didn’t read about any of these things in the D&C.

But the professional team over at the D&C were able to cover the non-story of Chris Lee’s father selling the family business.  From the D&C:

The company Lee helped manage and his father founded was sold for $395 million less than a year after the buyer, an international conglomerate, pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to sensitive defense technology that had been sent to China, Britain, Singapore and Japan. The conglomerate, ITT, also paid $100 million in fines.

The Lee campaign maintains that International Motion Control, an engineering and technology company founded by Patrick Lee, was sold to a division of ITT that was separate from ITT’s defense operations, which incurred the charges and fines.

And that low life John Gerkin, he’s the guy who took money from Jack Davis 2 years ago and trashes him all the time — well now he’s taking money from Jon Powers — can’t buy his loyalty or services, look at what he had to  say:

“As a combat veteran, Jon Powers is deeply troubled by anyone who profited from a company that gave our national security secrets to the Chinese,” said John Gerken, Powers’ campaign manager.

What about the people your boy duped out of all that money — how do you feel about them?  All that money for some soccer balls and backbacks — I know Jon needed to make a living but come on!

Republican Chairman Bill Reilich summed it all up very nicely:

Monroe County Republican Chairman Bill Reilich said if this is the worst Lee’s political enemies could come up with, he feels good about Lee’s chances in November.

“This to me is the biggest story of nothing I’ve ever seen,” Reilich said.

Welcome to political life Mr. Lee.  That story was non-sense and a geat example of how bad Rochester’s daily newspaper is on reporting information.  If your interested in social networking they are the place to go to though.

He’s to hoping that Jill Tereri and the D&C go back to sleep and ignore this race again.  We’ll do our best to pick up the slack!

Alice Kryzan Ad Sums It All Up In The 26th C.D.

Things are continuing to heat up in the 26th Congressional District primary between Jon Powers, Jack Davis and Alice Kryzan.  Many insiders and others watching this race have been wondering when Alice Kyzan was going to get into the race and it looks like she now has.  ErieDem pointed out this article in today’s Buffalo News.

It looks like Alice is trying to pick off two birds with one ad here.  In a rarely seen political move, Kryzan takes an appropriate swipe at both Powers and Davis for their collective foolishness and terrible campaigns they’ve both run thus far.

Right now, I’m in full agreement with ErieDem.  Neither Powers nor Davis deserve to win this primary race.  Alice Kryzan may very well be the best chance the democrats have in the 26th C.D.

Buffalo News Reports on War Kids Relief 990 Filing

The Buffalo News had a story yesterday on Jon Powers’ War Kids Relief filing their 990 form with the IRS.  Our friends over at the Buffalo Bean had a great post on it yesterday.

From the Buffalo News:

Congressional candidate Jon Powers released documents Wednesday showing that he earned $15,000 from his Iraq children’s charity in the first five months of 2007 — a year in which the organization raised only $41,738.

But the Powers campaign also released a letter from Veterans for America, the huge veterans organization where Powers worked, showing that the $60,000 he earned in 2006 was tied to his job as vice president for policy for that organization, as well as the War Kids Relief effort he ran there.

“Our opponents keep trying to frame it as if Jon was trying to rob War Kids blind, and it’s patently false,” said John Gerken, Powers’ campaign manager. “The claim that he took $77,000 from War Kids is patently false.”

Nevertheless, the campaign of industrialist Jack Davis — another of the three Democrats vying to replace Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, RClarence — continued to trash Powers over his War Kids effort.

“Jon Powers has been running for Congress for over a year, marketing a success that doesn’t exist,” said Paul Rivera, a Davis campaign consultant who noted that in 2007, “Jon Powers paid himself more than a third of the revenues” of War Kids Relief.

The documents — forms filed with the Internal Revenue Service last week, as well as the letter to Powers from Veterans for America — do shed further light on a charitable effort that failed to thrive.

War Kids Relief raised $135,074 during the course of its existence, less than the $150,000 to $250,000 Powers previously said it raised and far less than the $7 million that he hoped to put together.

I really don’t understand the Democrats.  It looks like none of them ever bothered checking up on Powers’ claims of the wonderful things he did for the kids in Iraq.  His rolling disclosure ($150-250,000 vs the reality of 135,000 while he “earned” $75,000 for working on this project) is hardly the stuff that makes for successful congressional candidates.

One last point. What is designing a model for child care? From that same article:

Approximately 80 percent of that, or about $54,669, went to programs to design a model for child care for children abandoned as a result of the Iraq War, as well as a work study program, a youth conference and research, the letter said.

I’m at a disadvantage (I’m not a democrat) but designing a model sounds like some not for profit type sat in an office and wrote a report about what they could do if they had more government money.

Anyone could go to Washington and lobby for government money to spend. I really don’t see why Powers’ made this the central point of his campaign.  This is an issue that will dog him for the rest of the campaign.

More On Jon Powers And War Kids Relief

I found this on youtube — wanted to share it with everyone.  It’s about Jon Jon and War Kids Relief.

It’s Tough To Stand Up To Your Boss — Right Jon?

Our friends over at the Buffalo Bean have two recent post on Jon Powers ducking issues.  The first on Bob Lonsberry’s show last week.  Part of their post included:

LONSBERRY:  How has Nancy Pelosi done as Speaker of the House?

POWERS: You know she’s been uh… (long pause) the Democrats have accomplished some, you know, pretty interesting things since they’ve been in there, it’s been a challenge Washington has definitely not done enough, we don’t have a policy to really secure our energy right now…

And the second included a story from the Buffalo News noticing that Powers raised less money from the Buffalo area than Alice Kyrzan and is receiving much of his support from leftist extremist from outside of western NY:

But there’s a downside to Powers’ prolonged courtship of the netroots. It’s the reason he raised nearly twice as much money from New York City as he has from the Buffalo area, a fact that allows his opponents to charge that the 26th District might not be foremost in his mind if Powers makes his way to Washington.

“Jon Powers is campaigning the same way he’ll govern; from outside New York and inside the pockets of the special interests,” said Joy Langley, a spokesman for Davis, the millionaire industrialist who’s paying for his third congressional race with his own money.

These post point out why Jon Powers is unwilling to speak out against Washington insiders like Nancy Pelosi — he needs their money and support.  If he is willing to sell-out before he even gets to Washington, what do you think he would do as a Congressman?

As If Things Weren’t Bad Enough For Jon Powers!

Our buddy Erie Dem sent us an e-mail yesterday — we were going to post it yesterday but we had more interesting topics to cover, that said Jack Davis has sent out at least the 10th mailing of the primary.  Couple this with his tv and radio and compare it to Powers’ campaign (a lot of complimentary post on leftist websites) and it makes you wonder where all of his money has gone (sounds similar to all of the War Kids Relief Money).

Erie Dem has not received one piece of mail from Jon Jon and the election is three weeks from Tuesday.  I know Jon and most of his supporters don’t realize this, but the average person will soon be focusing on labor day and getting their kids ready for school.

Time is running out guys!

Smoking Gun On Jon Powers’ Disorderly Conduct Charge!

Holy cow — how is this for a smoking gun? I couldn’t post this directly on our site — I’m technologically challenged — maybe one of our more savvy contributors can fix this for me.  Click on this image to see the citation Jon Jon received four years ago.  Warning it contains offensive language.  It is a direct contradiction to the lies spread by Powers’ hired guns (a citation for jaywalking) and the comments of his apologists in the internet.

“What the f**ck are you looking at mother f**cking cop!”  I wonder what John Kerry has to say about this!

Please note: Local Dems should be happy — the Ohio court redacted his social security number!

Jack Davis Reveals John Powers Cited For Disorderly Conduct In 2004

Jon Powers’ is getting hit from all sides.  You’ve seen our post about questions surrounding his employment plan charity, War Kids Relief. Now our friends over at the Buffalo Bean report that Jack Davis’ campaign discovered that Jon Powers was cited for disorderly conduct in 2004.

According to the Buffalo Bean:

The flurry of charges and countercharges began when the Davis campaign produced documents showing that Powers, a graduate of John Carroll University in Cleveland, was cited by a Cleveland Heights, Ohio, police officer on Oct. 23, 2004, for disorderly conduct. In his citation, the officer accused Powers of directing obscene comments at him.

(snip)

“At a time when he’s under investigation and running from revelations of election fraud and bribery, the Davis campaign is practicing the lowest form of politics by distorting simple facts,” Dillon said. “Jon was written a ticket for jaywalking, never arrested and never showed any disrespect to law enforcement.”

But a spokeswoman for the Cleveland Heights Municipal Court said Powers changed his plea of not guilty to the original Class 4 misdemeanor charge to “no contest” in connection with a minor misdemeanor on Jan. 11, 2005, and that there was no mention of jaywalking in the final disposition of the case.

More lies from Jon Jon’s hired guns. It appears that the truth is his real enemy!
