Kuhl Congratulates Massa!

Bath, NY - U.S. Representative John R. “Randy” Kuhl, Jr. released the following statement: “I would like to congratulate my opponent on his victory. A few moments ago, I called Eric Massa to congratulate him on being elected to the 111th Congress.

“I would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me over the last 28 years. From voting for me to volunteering for my campaign or putting a sign in their yards, words cannot express my appreciation for my supporters. I have been honored to represent them in Congress, the State Senate and State Assembly. This election’s outcome is no indication of the hard work and dedication that my supporters put forth.

“This race was a close and tough battle to the end, and today I urge all of my supporters to give Congressman-elect Eric Massa the support and encouragement that he will need to carry out the great tasks that he will face in the 111th Congress. This country is facing an uphill battle. Our economy faces historic and unprecedented challenges, and we must unite to find the solutions that our country needs.”

Let’s Give The Progressive/Liberal/Socialists A Taste Of Their Own Medicine

Say hello to Congressman elect Eric Massa.  My friends in the Democratic party tell me this guy is off his rocker.  I’m not sure what type of Congressman he will be, but I’m sure he will have quite a bit of entertainment value.

Our friend Philbrick over at mustardstreet had the following post we are reprinting for your information.

Putting Sweet Massa In The Ground

If, as we expect, Eric Massa’s vote margin holds, it’s time to subject the new Congressman to the same in-his-face tactics with which Randy Kuhl’s detractors dogged Kuhl.

Go to YouTube.   Do a search, first for “Eric Massa.”   You find only Massa campaign commercials and releases, or sympathetic videos. Then do a search for “Randy Kuhl.”   Nearly all you find are videos intended to portray Kuhl in a bad light, nearly all by local left-wing activists.

Now it’s our turn.  Specifically, those interested in booting Massa in 2 years need to start now by:

• attending Massa’s public meetings and appearances and asking tough questions;

• taking video of his answers.

Always respectfully.   But holding him to account.

This will require coordination and organization, so it’s time to get a “Committee of Correspondence” going among like-minded people throughout the 29th district.  The conservative and libertarian blogs can play a big role in this.

Personal action like this is not a part of our culture in the way that it’s ingrained in the culture of the Left.   P.J. O’Rourke recounts when a friend, driving by a massive “Blame America First” demonstration in Washington D.C., asked, “How come our people don’t do things like this?”   “Hey,” P.J. replied, “our people have jobs.”

Our people are home taking care of their families, instead of going to public forums to ask the government to do it for them.  Our people often seem to have a higher proportion of their own lives, and friends, and sources of satisfaction in their lives, outside anything having to do with politics.  Our people tend to have been brought up to be polite, and view with distaste doing anything “in-your-face.”

Well, we’re just going to have to overcome our disadvantaged upbringings.

Anyone who’s interacted with Massa in unscripted circumstances is aware of limitations of intellect and social personality skills that set him up nicely for public embarrassment.  And merely by asking questions that any citizen is entitled to ask her Congressman — which is all we’re proposing here.

Let’s get moving, folks.

Welcome to Congress, Eric.  And to the same level of scrutiny to which your supporters subjected your opponent.

Eric Massa’s Latest Commercial Preys On Senior Citizens By Distorting Randy Kuhl’s Record

U.S. Representative John R. “Randy” Kuhl, Jr.’s campaign responded to the deceptive television advertisement released by his opponent, Eric Massa. In his latest ad, Massa asserts that Kuhl would harm Social Security and cut Medicare. The truth is Kuhl has worked tirelessly to strengthen Social Security, stood up to the Bush Administration’s efforts to drastically cut Medicare and Medicaid programs, and supports slashing bureaucratic waste and abuse that diverts critical funds away from individuals who rely on Medicare and Medicaid.

“Voters will not be fooled by the desperate, last-minute attacks from Democrats,” said Representative Kuhl. “They are attempting to divert attention from my strong record of supporting Medicare, Social Security, and other issues vitally important to Western New York’s senior citizens. Ensuring our senior citizens and veterans are taken care of has always been a top priority for me. I encourage voters to reject these misleading advertisements.”

Last Monday, Representative Kuhl held a senior citizens town hall meeting at the Lakeview Apartments in Bath, NY. He spoke about his efforts to lower taxes on seniors, increase access to affordable health care, guarantee health care funding for all veterans, and improve Medicare and Medicaid.

THE FACTS ABOUT RANDY KUHL’S RECORD ON ISSUES IMPORTANT TO SENIOR CITIZENS

* Randy Kuhl stood up the Bush Administration by voting to override the President’s veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (H.R. 6331), which extends expiring provisions under the Medicare Program to improve beneficiary access to preventive and mental health services, enhances low-income benefit programs, and maintains access to care in rural areas, including pharmacy access. This legislation also prevents the 10.6 percent cut in payments to physicians who treat Medicare patients and provides a 1.1 percent increase in the Medicare fee schedule rate for 2009.

*Last March, Randy Kuhl urged the House Budget Committee to reject President Bush’s unprecedented proposed cuts to the Medicare and Medicaid programs for the 2009 fiscal year. The President proposal an erroneously cut of nearly $200 billion from Medicare and Medicaid that Western New York seniors, patients and communities desperately needed. These reductions would have cut payments to New York hospitals and other patient centers by $10 billion. Kuhl publicly voiced his opposition to the President.

*Randy Kuhl strongly backed efforts to protect the Social Security Trust Fund. He supported the Social Security Surplus Protection Act of 2007 (H.R. 4664), which would protect the Social Security Trust Fund surplus by ensuring that funds in excess of those needed to pay current retiree benefits are secured and saved to pay future retiree benefits controlled by the U.S. government.

*Randy Kuhl has been recognized for his commitment to veterans by standing up for mandatory funding. Kuhl support the Mandatory Funding for Veterans Act of 2007 (IH.R. 1382), which provides for an assured adequate level of funding for veterans’ health care, making such funding mandatory every year.

*Randy Kuhl supported the Savings for the Uninsured on Rx Expenses (SURE) (H.R. 6619) that will provide millions of uninsured Americans with needed prescription drugs at a discounted rate.

*Randy Kuhl worked tirelessly to ensure that Americans are financially prepared for the health care costs they will face during retirement. He supported the Retiree Health Account Act (H.R. 6288), which would provide Americans with the tax incentives needed to set aside funds for retiree health costs, and the Worker Savings Account Act (H.R. 6799), designed to help Americans enhance their personal safety nets as well as save money for their retirement.

*Randy Kuhl was endorsed by The 60 Plus Association, a non-partisan senior citizens group, for his efforts to lower prescription drug costs, repeal the death tax, and protect Social Security. Legendary entertainer Pat Boone, spokesman for the group, called Kuhl a “fighter for the elderly,” based on Kuhl’s “senior friendly” voting record.

Randy Kuhl Highlights Efforts To Cut Taxes and Create Jobs

U.S. Representative John R. “Randy” Kuhl, Jr. held a press conference yesterday at the Corning Chamber of Commerce to highlight his economic plan to make Upstate New York more competitive.

Joining Representative Kuhl were James DeChene, Eastern Regional Manager for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Thomas Tranter, President of Corning Enterprises; and Barry Walsh, owner of Advanced Transit Manufacturing.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsed Kuhl earlier this year for his support of pro-economic growth, pro-business policies that help small business owners throughout the 29th Congressional District. Today, the Chamber reiterated Kuhl’s efforts to end the Death Tax and provide affordable healthcare options for small businesses.

Thomas Tranter emphasized Kuhl’s work to bring critical transportation infrastructure improvements to the 29th Congressional District and the economic impact on the region’s economy, while Barry Walsh, who employs 40 individuals at his manufacturing company in Canisteo, New York, spoke about Kuhl’s efforts to keep taxes low for small businesses so they can remain competitive.

“Congressman Kuhl has been a strong supporter of small businesses like my business,” said Walsh. “I am a typical small business owner, and I know we cannot afford the tax hikes that his opponent proposes. I’m proud to support Kuhl’s reelection because I know he’ll continue fighting for businesses in Upstate New York.”

Representative Kuhl is a strong supporter of additional tax relief for families, farmers and small business owners. His opponent, Eric Massa, supports a plan that would raise taxes on the average New Yorker by over $3,200 a year and raise taxes on 26 million small business owners by over $3,600 a year. The Heritage Foundation estimates that nearly 60,000 New York jobs would be lost under the Democrat’s tax plan.

Kuhl’s Latest Ad

Randy Kuhl has a new TV ad, painting Eric Massa as a tax happy liberal.  Here it is.

Kuhl Goes After Massa On Taxes

I’m glad to see local Republican’s are responding to the negative attack ads put out by local Democrats. Randy Kuhl released a new commercial holding Eric Massa accountable on his economic plan and what it would mean to the average taxpayer.

Charlie Rangel — Do As I Say — Not As I Do

Some liberals are unbelievable — they have two set of rules — one for us and another one for them and their friends.

There is no better example of this than Charlie Rangel and the people who claim they want to clean up Washington, but don’t see a problem taking money from him.  Rangel’s problems with the sweetheart rent controlled apartments (4 in all), sending out fundraising solicitations for a project bearing his name on Congressional letterhead, the vacation property that he “forgot” to claim income from and the no interest loans he received for that property (they’d start speaking Spanish and I didn’t “understand”) immediately come to mind.

Well, yesterday’s New York Post had a new revelation – Mr. Charlie has stored a 1972 Mercedes Benz in the House parking garage for a years — a violation of house rules.  According to the Post:

WASHINGTON - Rep. Charles Rangel has been using a House of Representatives parking garage for years as free storage space for his old Mercedes-Benz - a violation of congressional rules and a potential new tax woe for the embattled lawmaker, The Post has learned.

The 1972 silver sedan is registered to Rangel, who is already under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, and is parked in a coveted section of an indoor lot, near elevators that lead to his office.

HURT: Weighty, Shady Pol Threat To Own Party

The car is covered with a protective tarp and has no license plates. Rangel’s registration on the vehicle expired in 2004, state records show.

House rules forbid use of the garage for long-term storage more than 45 days - and congressional aides told The Post that Rangel’s car has been sitting there for years.

(snip)

A House Web site on parking regulations informs anyone with a space that, under IRS regulations, the benefit of the free parking is considered “imputed income” and must be declared to the government.

The spaces are valued by the House at $290 per month, the site says - about the monthly cost of leasing a space in a private DC-area garage.

If the car has been in that space since its license plates were surrendered four years ago, the imputed income would be nearly $5,000.

In addition to the storage issue, the vehicle - valued at roughly $10,000 to $15,000 - runs afoul of other rules set forth on the House Web site because it does not have license plates and does not display a current House parking permit.

The big question is how muh longer will Democrats like Eric Massa continue to embrace this guy?  Massa has stubbornly refused to return donated cash he has received from Rangel — yet he still claims he will “refrom” Washington, dispite the fact that he continues to go to Rangel for fundraising help.

I don’t understand the Democrat’s strategy of running guys with no political experience for Congress -it works in some cases — , they don’t have a record to attack, but in others they make mistakes that candidates with experience would never make.

Massa should run away from Charlie Rangel as fast as he can.  Fess up. Say I used bad judgement and try to move on.  There are new revelations every day.  Just a guess, but I bet you this is just the tip of the Rangel ethical lapse iceberg.

Eric Massa A Little Less Than Truthful On Fundraising and Public Events

Eric Massa is starting to lose his grip on reality.  Our buddy Rottenchester over at the Fighting 29th had a post on Massa latest press conference.  Massa actually said:

Miller also asked about debates. Massa pointed out that Kuhl had a fundraiser on the same day as the WXXI debate that he chose not to attend. “I cancel fundraisers when we have an opportunity to speak to the public.”

Our research team went to work and found this on Congressman Randy Kuhl’s website:

“Eric Massa should immediately return the $26,000 (1) in personal campaign contributions from Mr. Rangel, the $39,922.54 (2) in contributions funneled to him by Mr. Rangel and cancel his October 6th (3) New York City fundraiser headlined by Mr. Rangel. Mr. Massa should also join Congressman Randy Kuhl and The New York Times in asking Rangel to step down as Chairman.

(3) Source: Massa fundraising letter, 8/20/08

Let’s see, Massa criticises Kuhl because he has a fundraising event planned and can’t make a candidates’ forum on WXXI.   Massa says, “I cancel fundraisers when we have an opportunity to speak to the public.”

Ok.  And Massa has a fundraiser with the ethically challenged Charlie Rangel to get more tainted money from him on October 6. But wait a minute according to the Buffalo 14228 there is a candidates’ forum scheduled as follows:

Monday October 6, 2008
7:00 PM-9:00 PM
St Johns Meadows Political Forum
Contact: Jan Wolpin, 585.223.4474
Note: Each candidate presents separately

But wait — that’s the same day he is going to New York to get more of Rangel’s money.  Massa’s campaign website conveniently leaves off the St Johns Meadow Forum from Massa’s list of activities.

Could it be that Massa wasn’t telling the truth?

Here’s An Example For Eric Massa To Follow

At least on Democrat has the decency to return tainted donations from Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel.

According to the Politico:

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens’ opponent Mark Begich is giving a $10,000 contribution from Charlie Rangel’s PAC to charity — the first (but not necessarily last) Democrat to distance himself from the embattled Ways and Means chairman.

The Anchorage mayor, who is playing the ethics card big-time against the indicted Stevens, needed to free himself from questions about his relationship with Rangel that were raised by the Alaska state GOP.

Can Eric Massa be far behind?
