Barack Obama’s Newest Advisor

Barack Hussien Obama has a new advisor, notorious liberal Hollywood elitist George Clooney.  England’s “The Daily Mail” is reporting the Clooney, the two-time Sexiest Man Alive, is an unoffical advisor to Obama. A Democratic insider states in the piece that:

“George has been giving him advice on things such as presentation, public speaking and body language and he also emails him constantly about policy, especially the Middle East. George is pushing him to be more ‘balanced’ on issues such as US relations with Israel. George is pro-Palestinian. And he is also urging Barack to withdraw unconditionally from Iraq if he wins.”

Not only is Hollywood elitist Clooney in a league with Obama but according to the same insider, there are many others.

“A number of members of the Hollywood community, including Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, offered to help raise funds for Barack but it was with George that he struck up this amazing affinity.”

I know Clooney, along with Damon, Pitt and Ben Affleck’s brother starred in the remake of Ocean’s Eleven, but could Obama be looking to create his own version of the “Rat Pack”, the group of powerful Hollywood interests that JFK so enjoyed.  Apparently, Clooney and the perspective Democratic nominee speak on the phone twice a week and text or email each other much more.

Clooney has stated before that he would never enter politics because he’d “slept with too many women, done too many drugs and been to too many parties.”  Don’t get me wrong, I think Georgie is a phenominal actor and I do enjoy the films that he’s been in; but he has no place helping Barack Obama mold his stance on issues like a Palestinian state, the future of Israel or our soilders in Iraq.  This is merely one celebrity trying to become buddy-buddy with the newest celeb on the block.

Two Peas in a Liberal Pod

Can You Tell the Difference Between the Liberals?

Seeing that Monroe Rising has made me a true, real-life blogger, I’ve figured it would be good for me to check other blogs to see what the word on the street is.  Yesterday, I saw on dailykos.com, John Kerry posted on a certain Democrats challenger in the NY-26.  I just hope he didn’t do it from his Senate computer. Quotes from John Kerry via dailykos.

Apparently, John Kerry is a HUGE fan of Jon Powers.

“I first met Jon at a screening I attended of the documentary Gunner’s Palace. When I heard his story, and I talked to him, I was blown away. I then asked him to give the introduction to the speech I gave on dissent and patriotism at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Jon later told me that he remembers that day because it helped inspire him to run for Congress, a fact that I’m very proud of.”

I wonder if Kerry knows that Powers has such a shotty record on ethics?

“Why is this personal to me? Because I believe in the courage and character of a young man who was a platoon leader…”

Does John Kerry, a veteran himself, think it was wrong for Powers to start a charity and then have the proceeds of this act pay his living wage for three years while the people who are truly in need are given a couple soccer balls?

“When he came home, Jon started War Kids Relief, a program to help the Iraqi children and give them resources and education to resist recruitment by radical organizations. It’s only through efforts like that, reaching people in their local communities and being sensitive to local conditions, that we can move beyond the cycle of terrorism and radicalism. It’s an old cliché, but in this case it’s true: America always does well by doing good.”

Does John Kerry really believe, with the wheels of the Jon Powers for Congress campaign falling off, that this man is the true embodiment of the Democratic Party that he has been a life long member of?

“If we can help him pull it out, I’m sure we’ll have helped elect a man who will be a big asset to our party – and our principles – and our country - for a long time.”

I hope Kerry really finds out who the real Jon Powers is.  Kerry also states that he has had Powers in Boston for fundraisers and events.  I wonder if Senator Kerry knows about all the money Powers’ has raised without one cent being spent on mailings, tv commercials, or the money he tried to pay for his rent?

It appears to many that Powers’ is running because he needs a job.  It would take him more than two years of teaching to earn that $77,000 he paid himself as director of War Kids Relief.  Senator Kerry may want to reconsider his support of a guy with such a shoddy record.

John Edwards is a Baby Daddy…

Former presidential candidate and Obama endorsee, John Edwards is now stuck up to his neck in the muck of political scandal.

For over a year, the National Enquirer has been following a story that Edwards has been having an affair and a subsequent love child with a woman who had worked on the campaign staff.  The Enquirer further accuses Edwards of having close friend and aide, Andrew Young take the blame for the fathering of this child.  Young himself is married but has stayed with his wife.

On July 21st , when Edwards was in Hollywood for an event, he orchestrated a late night rendezvous with his baby mama, Rielle Hunter and daughter Frances Quinn Hunter.  The National Enquirer caught up with Edwards in the basement of the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.  When confronted, the former Democratic Senator from North Carolina ran and hid in a hotel restroom for fifteen minutes until hotel security could come and escort him off the hotel premise.  Hopefully, when Edwards was stuck in the bathroom he didn’t hide with a wide stance.

Now the National Enquirer accuses Edwards of having a wealthy political ally pay Rielle Hunter a $15,000 payment per month as hush money to keep her silent. The Enquirer has this quote about the payments, attributed to a source close to the situation:

“A super-rich pal – who was closely involved with the campaign finances – is helping John. It’s likely this man doesn’t know all the dirty details of John’s extramarital affair, but is acting out of loyalty and is not asking a lot of questions – only writing the checks.”

Meanwhile, through all of this, Edwards wife Elizabeth, was home continuing her valiant fight against breast cancer.

Rapper Ludacris Does a Lil’ Ditty ‘Bout Obama

Yesterday, the Atlanta-based rapper Ludacris released a song touting Barack Obama’s candidacy.  Due to the subjective and offensive lyrics that this (and many other) song uses, it has gained denunciations from all around the political world. I’m sure Jim Lawrence is going to have a field day with this.

I’m going to link to a story that features the song lyrics, the Obama reaction and a video that plays the song (its on the left of the story).

*As a disclaimer the link does have some coarse language, including an offensive term for women.*

Ludacris Raps About Obama

The Honorable Richard Simmons: A Congressman?

The CNN Political Ticker ran a story today about a possible new Congressman or Cabinet member. That man is Richard Simmons.  While on Capitol Hill to testify to the House Education and Labor Committee on child obesity.  After his testimony, he took questions and said this, “”I want to have the respect of a congressman, I want to talk like a congressman, and maybe, someday, I’ll be a congressman.” He also said that if his country needs him he’ll be there, “(The new president) is going to have to look at the statistics of what’s happening to our kids,” Simmons told CNN Radio, and then he’s going to say who can we turn to? And it certainly isn’t the Ghostbusters.”

In honor of the possible future Congressman or Secretary Simmons, I would like to leave you with this video of Richard on the David Letterman Show:

I have some questions for Senator Barack Obama

I have some questions for Senator Barack Obama — the candidate who always says that America needs change.

Why is he acting like every other politician who has ran for President?  On Monday and Tuesday he was in New York City, but did he go into the inner city and talk about the war on drugs, low income housing, education reform, child health care, getting guns off the street? Nope, he didn’t.  Obama used the two days as a fundraising trip. He went to the Upper East side of Manhattan and collected money he could spend on campaign commercials and a trip to Germany so he can speak in Berlin.

I ask why now — the primary is over?  As stated in a previous post by one of my colleagues, he has flipped flopped on some many issues I’m surprised he doesn’t have to take a few days off the trail to recover from whiplash.  Why does it seem as if every one of his surrogates and supporters have a problem with offending people?

First it was Rev. Wright, then the Chicago Priest, Rev. Jesse Jackson is now in the business of cutting testicles off, and last night comedian Bernie Mac made jokes about infidelity and promiscuity at an event with Obama in Chicago.

Maybe Reverend Wright was correct it saying in saying that Barack Obama was just being a politician.  After all a leopard can’t change his spots.

Does She Really Deserve A Vacation?

I saw a report the other day on the Washington, DC website TheHill.com that New York Senator Hillary Clinton would be taking a month long vacation due to her fatigue (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/clinton-takes-month-off-2008-06-17.html).  That leads me to ask does she really deserve a vacation?

She had been formerly running for president for the past 18 months, this after her campaign for re-election for her Senate seat for the bulk of the 2006 calender year.  That means for the past 25 months, at least she has been in campaign mode.  That dosen’t leave a lot of time to represent the people of New York in the United States Senate.  The plurality of voters in New York elected her to be one of the two voices in America’s upper house but instead she seems to be collecting her salary while running for office.  I don’t see how that is right.

Now its is reported by The Hill and numerous Senate colleagues that she will be taking a vacation with her husband till July 7th or 8th, after Congress’s Independance Day recess.  Her spokesperson has said that Senator Clinton:

“Took some well-deserved R&R with her family last week, and she’ll be back here before you know it. In the meantime, she continues to work for New York and America, and she’ll be fighting harder than ever for the issues she has throughout her public life.”

It is also stated by Majority Whip, Dick Durbin, that as with the case during the primaries, Senator Clinton would return for critcal votes.  Aren’t all votes in the Senate critical?  The Senate decides, along with the House of Representatives, the laws of this nation.  Aren’t each of these votes and laws critical to the continued sucess of our nation?  I can’t figure out who exactly is dropping the ball here; Seantor Clinton or the Democratic Party?

Senator Diane Feinstein mention that she thinks “Sen. Clinton is entitled to a little R&R.”  Hmmm, Rest and Relaxation because your too tired from not doing your job as a representative of the people.  Just like our founding fathers believed.
