It’s Offical — Kryzan Not on WFP Line

Our buddy jacksonsmiles will get to vote for Jon Powers on the Working Families Party Line after all.  The Buffalo News is reporting that Alice Kryzan has run out of options after a Appeals Court upheld the ruling preventing her from being on that line.

Acdording to the Buffalo News:

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City ruled this afternoon that Jon Powers cannot be removed from the ballot on the Working Families Party line for the 26th Congressional District, meaning that Alice Kryzan has lost her bid for a second party line.

The judges issued a one-paragraph ruling following oral arguments this morning on the New York State Republican Committee’s bid to prevent the change.

What’s With All The Democrat Signs In Vacant Lots?

We received an e-mail from a read that asked a fair question:

What’s the deal with the cheesy democrats sneaking around during the middle of the night like creepy crawlers sticking their signs in every vacant corner spot around. Do they think they are above the law? And are these same cheesy dems going to leave their trash for a republican to clean up as usual? Oh yeah, like they will rush out next week to get them down. I remember it wasn’t too long ago that I still saw the dems signs from last year still out on highways. Seems the like Republicans are always cleaning up after them. Ridiculous.

It is a disgrace to sneak around like that. No class or what?

On the other hand, maybe they just don’t have enough support out there - real people giving real permission to place signs on their property.

I have noticed a lot of Democrat lawn signs in vacant lots — where I’m pretty sure they don’t have the property owner’s permission. Alice Kryzan and Rick Dollinger seem to be the main offenders.  Dollinger has a sign in the right of way near that Kodak building on Ridge Road near Lake Avenue — I wonder who they talked to at Kodak for permission?

I’m sure his campaign staff will get all of those signs down before they head back to New York City!

BREAKING — Powers Still On Working Families Line

What in the world is going on?  According to the Buffalo News, a federal judge overturned the ruling that gave Alice Kryzan the Working Families Line.

A federal judge plunged the race for Congress in the 26th District into chaos late Friday, issuing an order upending a state court mandate to put Democrat Alice Kryzan on the Working Families Party line.

U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara issued the temporary restraining order, sources close to the Kryzan campaign and that of her opponent, Republican Chris Lee, said.

While details of Arcara’s actions were unclear, they instantly reversed the plans of boards of elections in the seven counties that include parts of the 26th District.

Kryzan On Working Families Line

The Buffalo News is reporting that Alice Kryzan will be on the Working Families Party Line.  According to a real newspaper:

The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court ruled late Thursday that a lower court erred in deciding that Powers, Kryzan’s former rival for the Democratic nomination for the seat, must stay on the Working Families line even though he had moved to Washington, D.C., to take a job there.

“In the absence of evidence to the contrary, Powers’s letters to the Board and his concomitant submission of an out-of-state driver’s license and lease agreement conclusively establish his intention to establish residency outside of this state,” the appeals court said.

That disqualifies Powers from the ballot — giving the Working Families Party the right to name Kryzan its candidate, the court said.

Kryzan might be pleased by this, however our house liberal Jacksonsmiles points out that this may actuallu force him to vote for Chris Lee.  I get the feeling there are more than a few Jon Powers devotees who are pissed off and will actually pull the lever for Lee, which will hurt Kryzan more than if they just voted for Powers.

Chris Lee Has Big Lead In New SurveyUSA Poll

I lifted the following from our friends over at the BuffaloBean:

I just heard that Channel 2 News released a new SurveyUSA Poll during their noon news broadcast with the following results for the congressional race in the 26th district:

Chris Lee 48%
Alice Kryzan 34%
Undecided 18%

Looks like Alice’s smear campaign isn’t working out for her, and Chris Lee’s message is resonating big with the voters.

I’m in complete agreement with our favorite liberal jacksonsmiles when it come to Alice Kryzan.  She should be ashamed of her campaign.  Lying about Chris Lee and his family is disgraceful.  It looks like to voters aren’t buying her non-sense!

BREAKING — Judge Rules Powers Must Stay On Working Families Line

According to the Buffalo News:

A judge ruled today that Jon Powers must remain on the ballot as the candidate of the Working Families Party in next week’s 26th District congressional election, dealing a major blow to Democrat Alice J. Kryzan’s hope of securing an additional line.

Acting State Supreme Court Justice Kimberly A. O’Connor in Albany ruled that Working Families’ attempt to substitute Kryzan for Powers after Powers moved out of state to Washington did not meet election law requirements.

“Powers has placed the Working Families Party in the position of having an absentee candidate on the ballot for the election that is to occur in just a few days,” O’Connor wrote. “However, upon his nomination, he accepted the nomination. He did not decline the nomination, nor were there any challenges to his nomination.

“The time for such challenges has long passed,” she added. “While Powers has chosen employment that currently has him working outside the State of New York, the law does not provide for a mechanism to have his name taken off the ballot at this late date.”

Did Powers move to Virgina?

Over at the Buffalo Bean Blogger Matt is reporting that Alice Kryzan sent an email that states the following:

On Monday, Jon Powers and I will be hitting the pavement and talking to voters in Rochester, Geneseo, Batavia and Williamsville about importance of this election to the working families of Western New York.

Did Jon Powers actually move to Virgina? Did Alice give up on getting the WFP line? I am hoping Jackson Smiles our in house expert on Jon Powers can clear this up for us.

Alice Kryzan Ducking Questions and Breaking Promises

While Alice Kryzan is busy breaking promises to Western New Yorkers on her pledge not to take special interest money, she now has refused to answer questions important to the voters of Western New York. This on the heels of ducking a Town of Amherst Center for Senior Services Coffee with the Candidates Debate.”

Alice Kryzan has trouble with the truth. She broke her promise to Western New Yorkers by taking over $80,000 in special interest and PACs donations. How can Western New Yorkers trust Alice Kryzan to represent them in Congress?” said Andrea Bozek, Chris Lee for Congress spokeswoman. “Alice Kryzan is learning fast how to be the kind of politician she promised not to be.”

Here is Chris Lee’s newest commercial pointing out the truth on Alice Kryzan’s problems with the truth:

Alice Kryzan is ducking interviews with the press and debates…

Kryzan Silent on Special Interests Contributions

Williamsville - In a primary debate in early September, Alice Kryzan spent the entire debate criticizing her fellow Democrat, Jon Powers, for taking large campaign donations from special interest groups. After unexpectedly winning the primary, Kryzan has suddenly had a change of heart in terms of accepting big donations from special interest groups.

“For a second day, Alice Kryzan is silent on this topic,” said Nick Langworthy, Campaign Manager for Chris Lee. “She even skipped out on a debate hosted at Amherst Senior Center in conjunction with the League of Women Voters that Kryzan was expected to attend. Her absence was certainly noticed by the over 200 Amherst seniors in attendance.”

Total Special Interest Contributions: $83,150

PAC Contributions: $69,000

Washington Establishment Contributions (Lobbyists, Members of Congress, House Staff): $14,150

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which is financed by special interests, has pledged more than $1.5 million in NY-26 district before Election Day.

Kryzan Attacks Powers For Taking Special Interests Money. “I really have a hard time understanding how you can tell people in this audience how you are going to go to Washington to work for them when you already owe favors to so many lobbyists, PAC’s and special interest groups.” (Democrats Geneseo Debate, 9/2/08)

“Alice Kryzan is firmly on the record and had pledged not to take special interest money in her campaign,” said Nick Langworthy, Campaign Manager for Chris Lee. “What is now crystal clear from reviewing her FEC campaign finance disclosure is that she has taken tens of thousands of dollars from every fringe left wing special interest she could get her hands on and has gone back on her word to the voters.”

Alice Kryzan’s Special Interest Hypocrisy

After a year of being on record saying she would refuse to take special interest and lobbyist contributions, 26th District candidate Alice Kryzan’s Federal Election Report filed last night highlights her special interest hypocrisy.”Alice Kryzan is learning fast how to be the kind of politician she promised not to be,” said Andrea Bozek, Chris Lee for Congress spokeswoman. “How can the people of Western New York trust Alice Kryzan? For the past year she’s sworn off special interest money and now she’s taken nearly one hundred thousand dollars from special interest groups and political action committees.”

Kryzan’s Total Special Interest Contributions: $83,150

Kryzan’s PAC Contributions: $69,000

Kryzan’s Washington Establishment Contribution (Lobbyists, Members of Congress, House Staff): $14,150

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which is financed by special interests, has pledged more than $1.5 million in NY-26 district before Election Day.

Kryzan Says Special Interests Expect Something In Return For Their Donations: “I do not believe that you can go to Congress and be an independent voice of the 26th district when you have taken hundreds of thousands from PACs, lobbyists and special interests groups. Money is corrupting our political system. It is in some respects the root of all evil there … everywhere I go in this district people are telling me I want to see somebody like you in Congress, somebody who will fight for us, free of any taint, free of any link to these special interests who do except something in return for their donations.” (Democrat Primary Geneseo Debate, 9/2/08)

Kryzan Says ‘She Doesn’t Think Washington’s Should Select The Person We Are Going To Send As Our Representative’: “I am the only candidate in this race who has taken no money from special interests in Washington, sitting congressman, lobbyist … When I go to Washington I want to be an independent voice for the people of the 26th Congressional District. I don’t think that Washington’s should select the person that we are going to send as our Representative. I think we should select that person.” (Democrat Primary Geneseo Debate, 9/2/08)

Kryzan Has Refused to Accept PAC Money. “[Alice Kryzan] has refused to accept money from political action committees…” (Roll Call, 9/11/08)

“Western New Yorkers deserve a new direction in Congress not more business as usual,” concluded Bozek. “Western New Yorkers don’t need another liberal trial attorney in Congress who promises one thing and then does another. We need real solutions, not real hypocrisy.”
