Congressman Chris Lee (NY-26) announced that his office will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Rochester Foodlink. The food collection drive will begin on Monday, November 30 and run through Monday, January 4, 2010. Members of the community wishing to donate items may bring them to Congressman Lee’s Greece office Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Residents may drop off sealed, non-perishable food items such as pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, rice, beans (bags or cans), juice, sugar, tuna, canned soups, pasta sauce, canned vegetables, canned fruit, and cookies. Non-food items such as infant formula diapers, paper goods, health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, packaging supplies, office supplies/equipment, and kitchen supplies/equipment are also welcomed.
For the last 31 years, Rochester Foodlink has been redistributing more than 9 million pounds of food annually to a 550 member network of agencies in a 10-county area in Central and Western New York.
