Any business that would take a one-time influx of capital and use it to hire new workers without budgeting for those new jobs in the future is a business who either doesn't care about those jobs or doesn't realize the real consequences of taking such an action. The former is disingenuous at best and the latter is a case of blatant fiscal incompetence. Either way, it's a recipe for disaster and ultimately a waste of taxpayer money like so many other similar government initiatives.

I take exception to the government forcing taxpayers to fund organizations like this, no matter how altruistic their intentions. In a way, it's a form of forced charitable donations to groups the government thinks are worthy instead of those groups taxpayers may find more deserving of their hard-earned money.

I have an idea. Let the taxpayers keep their own money. Either we'll save it and the banks can invest it in the economy or we'll spend it and stimulate the economy directly. Regardless, at least we the taxpayers will be the ones making the decisions about where our money will be spent.

There's also another benefit to keeping government's hands off of taxpayer money. Less is wasted because there are no costs associated with collecting, handling, disbursing, and tracking it. If the government wants to stimulate the economy, perhaps they should turn to the people who really are the market: the taxpayers.

>>Stimulus funds were intended to create jobs >>and spur economic growth.

Wrong! Stimulus finds were designed to get liberal democrats re-elected in 2010. After 2010 they will work on getting illegal aliens citizenship and that should take care of their re-elections for a while.

They could really care less about a bunch of brown people and their lives as long as they vote the right way.
