At the close of the November 3rd election Democrat Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi was leading his Republican challenger, County Legislator Ed Mangano by 237 votes. Democrat Nassau Comptroller Howard Weitzman was losing to Republican challenger George Maragos by 576 votes and Democrat Legislator Dave Mejias was trailing Republican opponent Joe Belesi by just 28 votes.
The post election night recount told a very different story.
Suozzi was now LOSING to Mangano by 554 votes. Weitzman went from being down 576 to down 1019. And Mejias dropped further from 28 to a 142 vote deficit. None of this occurred once absentee ballots started being counted, it was after the voting machine were “reread.”
Consider too the substantial miscount in CD-23. Bill Owens’ lead was cut by 40% prompting Conservative Doug Hoffman to unconcede until all paper ballots are counted.
While I don’t think there will be a different outcome in CD-23, these miscounts beg follow up questions regarding what part of the process failed in these elections and why. Notable too is the fact that the errors benefitted the Democratic candidates. Is there a correlation?
It sure seems like something fishy is going on in Denmark.
