Last Thursday, November 12th the powerful union SEIU 1199 paid to bus around 2000 union members to Albany for a protest AGAINST cutting government spending. The Albany Times Unions covered the story which ran at 3:00 in the afternoon. Here’s a photo from the protest.

After reading the story and seeing this photo, two things stood out to me.
The first is my observation that SEIU 1199 union must have a veritable limitless supply of money because they had to spend a fortune on busing these people and on the embroidered knit hats they bought everyone as well as the professionally printed placards and printed “thundersticks” dispersed throughout the crowd. SEIU 1199 is also a MAJOR donor to political campaigns.
The second is more of a question to our readers:
What were you doing in the afternoon last Thursday?
I’m assuming that like me, you were working. It must be nice to be able to take the day off just to go protest in Albany to stop necessary government spending cuts so people like you and me (who pay the taxes to sustain state government) can afford to provide for our families. Obviously these people don’t give a crap about how much government is costing US.
And then unions wonder why so many people have such a negative impression of them and say that they no longer serve a purpose.
