I hope that this comes across the way I intend and not at all the way I don’t. I am a Veteran of the U.S. Military and yesterday was Veterans Day. When I was in the military just a few years ago the day meant to me that I would think about the times that my Grandfathers, Great Uncles, and Uncles faced in their time at war. I was lucky enough to do my 4 years without seeing any wartime, at least not face to face. I was stationed here state side for my time. Now that I am out and an actual Veteran not enlisted any longer the day means something new. Now I see it again from a civilian standpoint and respect the heck out of those guys and gals still fighting for me. I appreciate them more than they know.

I am wavering a bit away from what I intended to say here. The point is this: I want to be recognized as a Veteran. I want the people that I know to call me and say thanks. I know the folks in my life that know that I did what I did. I don’t need a parade or a card but just a quick note or call to say thanks. If I could thank all of those that have served and are serving I would. So if you are reading this and didn’t thank someone you know … call them and say so. It will really mean the world to them. We are a proud bunch and we only get one day to be thanked for it. We took the time from our lives and signed a check with “my life” as the amount that the U.S. could cash. That is a big check to write and one that you hope is never cashed. So again, take the time and make the calls to just say thanks to those who have served. That alone makes all of our efforts worth it. Happy Veterans Day folks!
