If memory serves it was Mark Assini and Monroe County Legislature Republicans who passed a double digit property tax increase for the 2004 County Budget.
While the rate has been slightly reduced since that time, the levy has steadily increased. This means that taxes have gone up.
When the current County Executive first ran she said she would not raise the levy but she has.

Regardless of what spin you say. Do you think anyone honestly believes that Democrats will not raise our taxes?
Isn’t that the (hope and) change that Democrats always want us to believe that never actually happens?

ExDem… can you honestly say your county tax bill has NOT gone up in the last two years?!
I judge whether my taxes have been raised by the best means possible — MY ACTUAL TAX BILL!!
How much has my county tax bill (subtracting out town taxes) gone up between 2006 & 2008?
Over 21%
The tax rate doesn’t matter by itself… It’s just a talking point. The LEVY matters. Inflated assessments matter.

yes I can honestly say my county tax bill has not gone up. My town, Irondequoit under the new democrat control in 2006 tried to raise my assessment. I went in tooth and nail and fought them and actually got a decrease because the former owner was probably a democrat and never challenged it.
You can spin all you want. The fact of the matter is
democrats=spending=taxes
We saw it in albany, we are seeeing it in washington and if we go democrat we will see it in monroe county just like everywhere else they control.
if your taxes went up 21% under a democrat it would have gone up 35% its just a fact of life that gets proven every time it happens and everyone understands it. Show me a democrat that decreased taxes?

Plus the new fees. You can call them something different but they appear on the TAX BILL.

I have a 100% Republican town government and my town taxes are up 21% in two years.
You have a Democratic town government and your taxes are not up. You say your assessment was inflated when your town was under Republican control prior to 2006 and the previous owner didn’t challenge it… AND you were able to get your assessment adjusted with Democrats in control of your town.
Sounds like Dem control of Irondequoit was a good thing for your pocketbook.
