Fire Monserrate!

Here’s the petition to sign calling for Democrat Senator/girlfriend slasher Hiram Monserrate to be fired.  Clearly, Monserrate has major problems even beyond the alleged attack on his girlfriend, problems Democrats knew he had before they chose him to run for political office.  It’s too bad this known ticking time bomb was even considered by the Democrat bosses.

We at Monroerising encourage everyone, no matter which part of New York State you are from or what your party affiliation is, to sign this petition.  Domestic Violence ranks right up there  at the top of our list of horrible violent acts.  No one who thinks it’s ok to smack his wife or girlfriend around should ever be allowed to serve in public office.  Period.

I just wish this effort to remove Monserrate were truly sincere on behalf of the Senate Democrats.  They collectively could have moved to prevent Monserrate from taking office in January.  Republican Senators tried to do just that but with no support from Senate Democrats.  Too bad.  He could have never entered the Senate chambers, but Democrats needed his vote back then so they chose to look the other way regarding his abuse charges.

I found this part of the petition particularly interesting:

This past summer, the New York State Senate reached new depths of dysfunction through its appalling disregard for the public good when it embarked upon a series of coups and counter coups while important Senate business was ignored.

Not quite sure what this has to do with removing an abuser from office, but since they brought it up, let’s take a look at that.

During the Senate stalemate, Monserrate, with abuse charges still pending, was what some would call “bribed” by the Democrats to vote with their side.  We brought you the story that Senate Democrats rewarded Monserrate with a Committee Chairmanship and a $12,500 payment that goes with it.

And I’m sorry but I don’t believe Democrat Senator Liz Kruger’s sudden outspokenness on this.  Remember Kruger’s silence back in March?  She didn’t have a problem with Monserrate being an abuser back then.

Hell, Senate Democrats even talked about bankrolling Monserrate’s legal defense fund

Listen, Hiram Monserrate shouldn’t just be removed from the Senate, he should be in jail.  That, or he should personally find out what it’s like to have someone bigger and stronger beat the crap out of you.  He needs to go.

But this 10-months-too-late concern on the part of Senate Democrats really is hypocritical.  We wish they would care about the abuse of women when it happens, not 10 months later.

Sign the petition and let’s be rid of this dirtbag.
