Greece Democrat Supervisor Candidate Dan Maloney “simply didn’t demonstrate the skills needed to run a town of nearly 100,000 people.” That was what the Democrat & Chronicle’s endorsement group had to say in today’s paper.
Dan Maloney must have done a horrible job in his interview to lose out on the endorsement of our left-leaning newspaper. Maloney clearly hasn’t given Greece residents a reason to believe he can run our town. A lack of understanding about town government, wiping out emergency funds, giving out incorrect and misleading information to voters, wasting taxdollars on a dredging operation to benefit a few boaters, wanting Greece to have its own version of the Fast Ferry in the form of a town aquarium, putting up illegal lawn signs in Greece are all reasons Greece voters should not risk our community’s future on Dan Maloney.
The challenges facing Greece are being dealt with. The town reached a $2 million settlement from the Kodak assessment situation, Former Police Chief Meritt Rahn is no longer employed by the town, the town tax rate is being cut and Greece still has some of the best local services for its residents. That is very good. How well one governs during challenging times is the mark of good leadership.
Simply using challenging times for political gain does not make one qualified to lead one of the largest towns in New York State. That is all Dan Maloney has done during this campaign.
Dan Maloney’s broom press conference, taking guidance from crazy Joe Moscato, opposition to local business development and misleading information about town finances are all reasons why Greece voters should hope he never is put in charge of our town. Add the very real concerns that Maloney would bring the failed leadership of the UAW unions which forced U.S. citizens to pay for a federal bailout as well as his support of a Canadian-style health care system, and it’s clear Dan Maloney would lead Greece residents down a path of complete turmoil.
The endorsement team went on to say that Dan Maloney ’simply didn’y lay out the vision for systemic change.’ No kidding.
If the Democrat & Chronicle’s people felt after interviewing Dan Maloney that he showed no plan to lead the Town of Greece, I can only hope and pray that Greece voters have realized this too.
