Say no to Working Families Party candidates

A Marist poll for Senator of New York has George Pataki leading Kirsten Gillibrand: Pataki 45%, Gillibrand 41%, with a ±4% margin of error. Rudy Giuliani, who is widely expected to run for governor, also leads Gillibrand in a trial match-up: Giuliani 51%, Gillibrand 40%.

No doubt the Senators support for ACORN last month has been resonating with the voters of New York. In New York, the group that represents ACORN is the Working Families Party. They are primarily super liberal union members and big government types.

I believe there will be a local backlash to Working Families Party candidates. Almost all of the Democrats running for County Legislature, Democrat Sheriff candidate Dan Green, Webster Democrat Supervisor candidate Patrick Christopher, and Greece Supervisor candidate Dan Maloney are running on the ACORN\Working Families Line.

Most people just do not want that type of government. Say no to ACORN and the union bosses. They all ready have too much influence in New York!

As an aside, I’m wondering why Judge DeMarco hasn’t distanced himself from them:

Why would any clear-thinking conservative candidate, especially one who is involved in the legal system, even think about an alliance with these folks?

Actually, Shockwave, DeMarco showed us that the WFP/ACORN can be nuetralized in our community. By wining the primary against Brian McCarthy, DeMarco has made it more difficult for Brian. In my opinion, it was a smart political move on DeMarco’s part. I’m sure he doesn’t share their values of raising taxes, stealing government money and manipulating minorities to be used for their political gain.

I can’t believe McCarthy fell asleep at the switch and blew the primary race. He also lost the Independence primary. Not a good track record so far.

I expect McCarthy to lose in the general. It doesn’t seem like he works very hard compared to DeMarco. This’ll be a good win for the GOP, especially near the top of the ticket.

I understand that there may be a tactical advantage for DeMarco because he won both the Independence and WFP primaries – denying an opponent the backing of additional parties is certainly advantageous. I’m just trying to understand how it makes sense to make an ally of a party that is arguably in violation of NY State campaign finance laws.

As a judge, I would expect him to fight against the very kind of disrespect for the law that the WFP embodies. What am I missing here?

Again Shockwave, I personally don’t believe DeMarco is “allied” with the WFP and have seen nothing that shows otherwise. I highly doubt WFP is loaning their paid hacks from New York City to DeMarco (or any Republican) for this race, especially since they went with McCarthy in the first place. They’re working with the Democrats.

I actually had what I strongly believe was one stop at my door for a Dem candidate. When I asked where they were from, he said “the City.” When I said that I used to live there and what neighborhood they lived in (City folks go by “neighborhoods”) the person actually said “I live on Main Street.” I then asked North or South Main and the supposed “local Democrat supporter” replied “South.”

That’s right Monroe County voters, there’s a person from “South Main Street” helping Democrat candidates this year!

So much for the Dems getting “local” people to help them with their campaigns in “local” elections.

Mr. Peabody,

Perhaps my previous remarks have been too subtle to convey the crux of my argument. For the sake of exposition, let me begin by stating I agree with you – denying an opponent the endorsement of a particular party can be a good thing.

…however…

(1) Judges are supposed to uphold the law.

(2) WFP is arguably in violation of election laws.

(3) NYS Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (a Democrat) has opened up an investigation into the activities of ACORN in NY.

(4) WFP = ACORN = Data and Field Services

Considering all of these items, my point is simply that a Republican judge, specifically Judge DeMarco, shouldn’t be involved in any way with a criminal enterprise like the WFP, certainly not with respect to an upcoming election when the Democrats are currently investigating them!

I submit the proper course of action would be to have nothing to do with WFP at all. Judge DeMarco should distance himself from the WFP and decline to be their candidate for the aforementioned reasons. Honestly, if Barack Obama sees fit to distance himself from ACORN (as well as the congress and other federal agencies) then that should be a signal for anyone with a modicum of common sense to do the same. After all, it’s the principled thing to do. Having the endorsement of a bunch of union-backed criminals bent on perverting and controlling the election process to further their own radical leftist agenda is simply not a good thing no matter how one may attempt to spin it.

It’s not only bad for Judge DeMarco, but it’s ultimately bad for America.
