Democratic County Legislature Candidate Mike Condello has been caught in a campaign lie — he claimed to be a life long Henrietta resident, despite the fact that he owned a home in Gates from 2005 until 2008.

From YNN.com:

Republicans are questioning a recent flyer Condello mailed to residents claiming to be a lifelong resident of Henrietta. Truth is, he owned a home and lived in the town of Gates for three years.

“One of the most basic things in elective office is to have some trust and to try and convey that to the voters. And if you can’t trust a basic thing of where he lives, where he spent the last few years of his life, how can you trust beyond that?” asked Monroe County GOP chairman Bill Reilich.

Condello insists he wasn’t being deceptive.

“I you want to look in the dictionary, lifelong means lasting or continuing through all or most of ones life,” he said. “When it comes right down to it I’m a lifelong resident, Henrietta is my home and this is where I’m going to stay and raise my kids and live my life.”

I really like Condello’s response, it sorta reminds me of this classic line from former President Bill Clinton:
