(Editor’s Note: The following is a cross post from our friends at NY Daily Balance and serves as a follow-up to our post about liberal/progressive/radical/billionaire George Soros looking to cash in on his political donations to Democrat candidates in New York.)

Billionaire George Soros knows something about handouts.

He says a childhood gift from a kindly local charity was the inspiration for his decision to back Gov. Paterson’s scheme to give $200-per-child back-to-school cash bonuses to welfare moms, using federal stimulus money.

Despite a personal fortune that he freely uses to support left-leaning political causes, like drug legalization, and even further-left leaning politicians, Soros has clearly learned never to pass up a handout himself.

Officials in Troy say they’ve cinched a deal to land Soros-owned Dinosaur BBQ at a prime waterfront location in the Collar City—at a cost to taxpayers that’s likely to exceed $1 million.

The eatery will offer commanding views up and down the Hudson River and is within walking distance of the city’s popular downtown boat docks, near offices and shopping and right beside one of Troy’s busiest gateway bridges.

For this piece of prime real estate, the city will contribute $350,000 to pay for renovations to the sprawling former restaurant building.

Additionally, Rensselaer County is waiving $100,000 in recording fees and taxes, and the local IDA will pay $200,000 in back taxes on the property, and give Soros a 20-year break on future payments.

Possibly the sweetest deal ever for one of the nation’s richest men.

Soros has more then enough personal wealth to pay for these renovations and shouldn’t have his hand out for $1 million of our money.  If Soros were a billionaire Republican donor, this story and editorial outrage would be plastered in media outlets all across this state.
