I never thought Dave Garretson was a liar, until now.

Aside from running a political campaign last year that focused entirely on attacking his then opponent, NYS Assemblyman Bill Reilich, I had always heard that Dave Garretson was a nice guy.  I understand though that as a candidate he wasn’t allowed to run a clean campaign.  With the Assembly Democrat campaign committee paying the bills to the tune of a quarter million dollars (the second most costly according to records), I assumed Dave was playing dirty because he was forced to.  I never thought for one minute this is the type of person he really was.

But now he’s opened himself up to a little reality smack that I can only hope jars him back to reality and helps him change his evil ways.

Post-candidate Garretson has proven that he is truly a mean spirited individual and a political party hack.  Mr. Garretson is a leading member of the Greece Democrat Party and runs a blog supporting his team – well not really supporting his team, but instead spreading false rumors and lies about elected officials in the Republican party.

First, Garretson demanded that Greece Supervisor John Auberger contact him to prove that a break wall built at a home on Edgemere Drive by ROBUTRAD members was not his and then went on to post several more times leading people to believe that Auberger must be guilty because he hadn’t contated Garretson yet to prove otherwise. 

Follow the nasty little connect-the-dots game that Garretson plays.  “Prove to me that this isn’t true and if you don’t, it must mean you are guilty and I will try to make people think that.”  That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.  You see things like this from pure political party hacks, but coming from someone who recently, and possibly in the future, runs for elected office is quite a surprise.

Let me lend a bit of helpful information for you Mr. Garretson on your use of google maps.  Go there with the 350 Edgemere Drive address, click satellite and then zoom in.  I’ll tell you what you’re NOT gonna see – a breakwall.  What you WILL see are a bunch of rocks in the water.  When your brain stops smoking trying to figure that one out, this will sink in.  Lakefront homes threatened by possible flooding and erosion have one of two things.  A break wall is constructed or large boulders are placed in the water for waves to break against.  There’s no break wall visible there.  Maybe if you watched the google map “how to” video you so snively posted, you would have figured this out.  But we both really know you don’t give a crap about the truth.  The truth might have stopped you from spreading lies.

Garretson continues his “prove it to me or I’ll come after you” campaign against newly appointed Monroe County Legislator Rick Antelli.  It seems Garretson couldn’t find Antelli’s street on   so Mr. Antelli MUST be lying about where he lives, even though he prominently displays his address on his campaign website.  Garretson solidifies his genius by showing that Rick had another address.  Mr. Garretsoneven goes so far as to follow up with a smart-@ss post of a “how to” google map video to help Antelli figure out where he lives.  Antelli’s DOA right?

I’m going to go out on a limb here.  Try to stay with me.  On the two address issues that Mr. Garretson has hit a brick wall on, maybe, just maybe, Antelli moved.  I know, I know, it sounds really weird but there are actually times when people literally take their stuff and bring it to somewhere else, permanently.  You were one place, but now you are at another.  If Dave reads this and needs further explanation I’ll be happy to go through it step by step.  I won’t falsely accuse him of being a totally incompetent fool if he doesn’t but my kind offer stands.  Also, maybe, just maybe (this one’s gonna blow your friggin’ mind!) Mr. Antelli moved to a newly created street that has not yet been downloaded to map quest, google maps, maps-r-us, map o th’ world, desktop globes, etcetera, etcetera.  Again, I have a power point Dave that I’ll be glad to forward to ya if needed.  Again, I’m not saying you are an complete idiot, just misguided I guess.

I thought Mr. Garretson would have learned a lesson after reading monroerising’s post on how maliciously Greece Democrats went after former County Legislator Ray DiRaddo.  They used and manipulated the fact that DiRaddo was separated from his wife and no longer lived at the home located outside of his district as a reason to falsely accuse DiRaddo of owning a second residence in the district illegally.  That was really nasty.  They also basically suggested people stalk DiRaddoto “get to the truth.”  In the end, the liberal blog they used to promote this sliminess came to their senses (although the damage was done, DiRaddo narrowly lost to Dick Beebe) and recanted their post as incorrect.  They were mislead by the Greece Democrats but at least they admitted they were wrong and accordingly made a statement ending the mudslinging.  That, I do respect. 

What do you say Dave?  Are you now man enough to admit that you were wrong and post as much on your site, or are you going to remain a mean and nasty purveyor of lies and false accusations in a slimy attempt to smear the Greece Democrat Party’s political opponents on behalf of your candidates?

Remember, the mud you sling in support of the Greece Democrat candidates splashes onto them too.  That means in these instances Democrat Supervisor candidate Dan Maloney and County Legislator candidate Mark Coons will need to answer to your lies and false accusations.  Nobody cares who you are anymore (unless you run again, but after reading your nasty attack posts we both know you can’t) but I kind of think these two guys don’t want to be associated with your personal little smear campaign, or maybe they do, we’ll see how they conduct their own races this year.

I recall last year that Mr. Garretson was very upset that his attack campaign against Reilich resulted in information surfacing that Garretson got in trouble for not paying his taxes.  Dave posted an entire story trying to explain the situtation and chastised his opponent for playing dirty, even though Garretson’s campaign team decided this was the exact pace they had previously chose to set.  Now Mr. Garretson is once again climbing back into the gutter, but this time it’s of his own choosing.  No one is making him act like a dirty, greasy, nasty, disgusting, political party hack.  Mr. Garretson has decided to act this way all on his very own.  It’s too bad this is how Mr. Garretson wants to be remembered in Greece Democrat Party politics.

One last thing folks, remember this quote from Garretson when he was running for elected office last year?

“I’ll be known as an open, regular guy who is elected as a Democrat but is not wearing a partisan hat.”

I guess that was just another lie, or a false accusation he made about himself.  It seems that this is Mr. Garretson’s new MO.
