Friends, its been reported that Niagara County GOP Chairman Henry Wojtaszek will be seeking the Chairmanship of the the New York Republican Party when it becomes vacant in September. While I believe that Monroe County Chairman Bill Reilich would make the finest State Chairman, Wojtaszek is surely second on my list. I can’t imagine that Reilich would want the seat, especially after seeing his dedication to his constituents.
Wojtaszek will make a wonderful Chairman, especially after the mediocrity that is Joe Mondello. I still cannot wrap my arms around how Mondello and his team were able to lose the NY-20 race. I still don’t believe Scott Murphy won the race, I believe Tedisco lost it. If Wojtaszek would have been chairman, I think that seat would be in Republican hands. The people running the Tedisco campaign foolishly made the race about Barack Obama when clearly it should have been about the failures of Governor Paterson and the all-powerful NY City focus of Sheldon Silver. We shouldn’t make the same mistakes with the NY-23. I also think the only reason the Senate GOP wasn’t totally routed was due to superior candidates and the work of the Senate Campaign Committee not State Leadership.
Wojtaszek is a former Navy Judge Advocate General officer, a two-time City Attorney for the Town of Tonawanda, and a 2002 candidate versus Louise Slaughter. The Niagara Times has also ran a full-fledged support of Wojtaszek as state chairman. He’s terrific with the press and messaging, he’s young, energetic and understands the need for the GOP to improve on its new media capabilities, he’s a strong presence, exudes leadership, and heck, with him at the helm we’d have the most handsome looking Chairman in all the land!
To become Chairman, Wojtaszek will have to win over a majority of the 61 county chairs from across the state. I have no doubt that he will do that, especially over the other candidate, John Faso.
