Ever hear of Dr. Mitchell Taylor?  Dr. Mitchell Taylor has been researching the status and management of polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. More than once since 2006 he has made headlines by insisting that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 30 years ago. But according to AlGore because of global warming climate change the polar bear population has been declining. Dr Mitchell’s views are so scary to environmental groups that he has been banned from a meeting of the Polar Bear Specialist Group set up under the International Union for the Conservation of Nature/Species Survival Commission that will take place in Copenhagen this week.  The odd thing is Dr. Taylor is considered such an expert on polar bears that the same group gave him funding for his research.  Dr Andy Derocher, a former university pupil of Dr Taylor’s, frankly explained in an email that his rejection had nothing to do with his undoubted expertise on polar bears: “it was the position he had taken on global warming climate change that brought opposition”.  You see Dr. Taylor does believe that the arctic has been warming changing, but he does not think it is cased by CO2 levels increasing.

So the science that President Obama wants to take regardless of where it leads does not want to be lead in the direction of Dr Taylor.

When asked in a surpised unprepared unteleprompted situation President Obama had this to say on the matter:
