Friends, throughout the existence of Monroerising.com, we have railed against the influence that special interests and big money plays on the hypocritical Democratic party within Monroe County, the State of New York and across the country. However, the most ironic of all the hypocritical Dem bankrollers is none other than billionaire George Soros. Bob Lonsberry broke the story that Soros, who now owns 70% of the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que chain is looking to open a new location in Troy, NY and is looking for a handout from the people of that city.
But Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has come calling. And it has found just the building it wants. Which is where the give-aways begin. The building has almost $220,000 in back taxes owed on it. Now, typically, if you buy a property with any liens against, you pay those. In the real world, those are going to be tacked onto the purchase price. Unless you’re Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. In this instance, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has pressured the local industrial development agency into paying the back taxes on the building it wants to buy. That’s $218,000. Further, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is getting a five-year deferment on the property tax that improvements on its property would have otherwise obligated it to. That five-year lag will continue for 20 years. Meaning that Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will spend the next two decades paying less than its fair share of property taxes – while the locally owned businesses against which it competes will have to pay their full obligation. But wait, there’s more. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is also being given exemption from $60,000 in sales tax for materials used to improve its building, and the $53,000 fee for recording its mortgage is being waived. Let’s do the math on that. Without even considering the five-year property-tax lag, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is being given $330,000 to come to Troy. To open a restaurant.”
Now as much as I love eating at the Dinosaur, there’s no way that they should be getting $330,000 to open a restaurant under the guise of “economic development.” Especially when its owned by the 29thRichest Man in World witha net worth of $11 billion. Why does Soros need a handout from tax-payers when he’s showed no qualms in giving money to Democratic Party causes and candidates? If you recall, we broke the story how the Soros family funded Dick…er, Rick Dollinger’s Senate Campaign. Since 2002, George Soros and his family have directed over $1,658,900 to the New York State Democratic Party, Democratic Senate and Assembly Candidates and Democratic party special interests. As Soros donated and directed his family to do the same, he has clearly shown that he has the necessary funds to pay for his business to come to Troy without need the people’s money (unless of course they’re going to go eat and this new location). Talk about Soros getting some pulled-pork from the City of Troy.
While I may not agree with everything Bob Lonsberry has to say, he hits the nail on the head in this story. But of course, the Democrat and Chronicle’s Jim Lawrence, won’t dare speak ill of big money and its corruption of their favored political party.
And anybody who would defend George Soros is no doubt a piece of horse-hooey, a scumbag and doesn’t deserve to have the voice they use to speak in his defense. Soros is a Jewish Anti-Semite who would rather take a big old dump on the Star of David then speak up and support the plight of the Jewish people and his Israeli brothers and sisters.
For far too long, the Democratic/Liberal/Progressive Troika has been defending a man who is hell bent on using his money to buy influence with a political party and use that influence to promote radical liberalism. I’m sure they will now defend the rich guys and his demand for taxpayer dollars to further serve his selfish personal financial gain. Great work there Progressives!
