ALBANY, NY – The Republican Assembly Campaign Committee today announced that Assembly Republican Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) was recently honored by the New York State Young Republicans for his ongoing efforts to advance the principles and ideals of the Republican Party.Kolb was presented the prestigious “Wheeler Milmoe Assemblyman of the Year Award” during the New York State Young Republicans’ biennial convention, in recognition of his many accomplishments and commitment to improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers. Wheeler Milmoe was one of the original founders of the New York State Young Republicans in 1932. He later served in the New York State Assembly, representing Madison County.
“Leader Kolb has taken the reins of the Assembly GOP at a tough time in our state’s history. We saw no better person to bestow this great honor than to him. He is an Assemblyman in the great tradition of Wheeler Milmoe and we are lucky to have him fighting for the people of our great state. The Young Republicans look forward to working with Leader Kolb on the right side of things,” said Lynn Krogh, New York State Young Republican Chair.

Kolb was first elected to the State Assembly during a special election in February of 2000 and has been subsequently re-elected by his constituents in 2000,2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008, respectively. He was unanimously elected to serve as Assembly Republican Leader by his colleagues on April 6, 2009. Kolb entered public service after a long and successful career in the private sector, where he was a business consultant, entrepreneur and chief operating officer of a variety of small and large technology based businesses.
Kolb represents the 129th Assembly District, which includes parts of Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Ontario, and Seneca counties. As the only Legislative Leader in state government who proudly lives, works and represents Upstate, Kolb has consistently advanced a legislative agenda that includes delivering real property tax relief, strengthening the economy by creating more private sector jobs, making communities safer, providing a quality education for all students and enacting real health care reform that puts patients first.
