If you think the stimulus is just about getting the economy moving, guess again. There are hidden health care issues in it that could cost you your life.  In an article published in Bloomberg by Betsy McCaughey she explains this:

One of the jobs will be to spend to create the technology that will track medical treatments electronically by a federal system.  Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a doctor or  hospital, is beneficial.  What is not beneficial the new bureaucracy created called the “National Coordinator of Health Information Technology”.  It will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions. These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

So what happens is the federal government decides that open heart surgery for men over 70 years of age is not efficient. They most likely will only live 3-5 years after the surgery anyways so if resources are scarce wouldn’t it be better to give the operation to a 50 year old man? If you think I am bloviating and it could never happen, guess again most countries who have adopted socialized medicine are doing this already. In Italy it is almost impossible to get open heart surgery past 70 years of age.

There are many stealth issues in this bill. This is the reason why Obama wants it passed so quickly, why he is using the fear factor to get it through. If we take our time and debate it properly we will be aghast at what is in it.
