Malcolm Smith is proving once again why he has no business being the leader of the new Senate Democrat Majority come next year.  It is common knowledge in the governmental/political world that it is ok to use political resources (ie: a political campaign website) to connect to governmental information.

However, it is a BIG no no to use your taxpayer funded governmental website and resources for purely political and/or campaign purposes.

Unfortunately, downstate NYC Senator Smith either doesn’t understand the rules or more likely simply doesn’t care.  Take a look at his taxpayer funded government website and this story about Smith addressing the NY Democratic Delegation at the political convention.

Now, call me crazy but I’m not sure exactly what governmental value this provides to the taxpayers of New York other than to pump Smith up for speaking at a political convention.  And as you may recall, Malcolm Smith is the same ”leader” who tried to shake down governmental lobbyists who work for special interests to bankroll his political campaigns.

It’s no wonder the Gang of 3 don’t want this guy to be the new Senate majority leader.

Once the Democrats take over everything, we expect to see more of this.  It’s abundantly clear that after this week’s lack of coverage on the failings of Democrat Speaker Sheldon Silver, Democrat Governor David Paterson and Democrat Minority Leader Malcolm Smith in Albany, that there will be absolutely no questioning of Democrat improprieties in Albany by the press.

I don’t know if what Senator Smith did was illegal, but it sure isn’t appropriate.

This isn’t the change we needed but it’ll sadly be the change we get.
