One More Reason To Lose Respect For Tom Golisano

I used to have a lot of respect for Tom Golisano.  Who wouldn’t?  Successful businessman, top benefactor of our community, the guy who saved the Sabres, and our main hope to keep the Bills in western New York when Ralph Wilson no longer owns the team.

But, I’ve lost a lot of that respect this political season.  He has come under a lot of scrutiny over his political involvement this year.  I think relying on Steve Pigeon is proving to be a big mistake.

We’ve reported on the various request for investigations into his tactics, which if they aren’t illegal, certainly are gutter level.  Not to mention his judgement –does he expect us to believe that he really thinks Rick Dollinger  is the guy to reform Albany? I’m move convinced than ever that Golisano’s bankrolling of the Senate Dems is a part of a larger deal — but that’s a post for another day.

The Buffalo News is reporting that Golisano and Pigeon are calling on Governor Paterson to remove the two Erie County Election Commissioners who are looking into allegations that his committees have illegally coordinated with candidates (a charge leveled by several organizations) and that his committees have circumvented campaign finance disclosure reporting forms.

From the Buffalo News:

Golisano today accused the Republican and Democratic elections chiefs of violating New York State Elections Law by overstepping their investigative and subpoena powers. Earlier this week Mohr asked Golisano to answer questions under oath about his dealings with three political action committees controlled by G. Steven Pigeon.

(snip)

Golisano called on Gov. David A. Paterson to remove Mohr and Ward from their positions. He also said he has filed a complaint with the state elections board, and is asking the Erie County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the local board chiefs’ actions.

“The very people who represent us and are tasked with protecting and policing elections are using the public trust to launch their own political attacks,” Golisano said.

Mohr and Ward were not immediately available for comment, but planned to speak with the media later this morning.

Wow, can you say thin skinned hypocrite? This is unbelievable.  People investigate his activity and he calls on his political cronies to remove them from power?

This sounds like something a third world dictator would do — not something we should expect from a self proclaimed government reformer.  Reformers operate in an ethical way and answer questions — they don’t use fear and intimidation to squelch people looking for answers.

We tried to warn Golisano that given his track record, involving himself in this year’s campaign could do a lot of damage to his reputation. Unfortunately, it looks like we were right!

Don’t Let The Mailing Fool You, Mayor Duffy Isn’t Supporting Dollinger

How do you like this, Mayor Blue Sky and Sunshine isn’t supporting Rick Dollinger for Senate. From the D&C:

Duffy said both campaigns had photos with him, and he OK’d — or did not forbid — the use of the photos in the two candidates’ campaigns. He said he did not see the “Democrats United” mailing until today.

“I have not come out and endorsed either candidate in that race,” Duffy said, describing himself as a “proud Democrat” but explaining he knows and respects both men.

How’s that for leadership you can count on?

I really liked Sean Hart’s comment — he’s Dollinger’s spokesperson:

Dollinger campaign spokesman Sean Hart said the mailings include no statement of endorsement, and that the “Democrats United” mailing “wasn’t meant to serve as making people think it’s an endorsement.”

He added, however, “I’m sure some will conclude that.”

What a tool!  This is further proof that Dollinger and his people will say, or do anything to win this race. A last minute non-endorsement mailing made to look like an endorsement mailing — what will these guys do next?

Kryzan On Working Families Line

The Buffalo News is reporting that Alice Kryzan will be on the Working Families Party Line.  According to a real newspaper:

The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court ruled late Thursday that a lower court erred in deciding that Powers, Kryzan’s former rival for the Democratic nomination for the seat, must stay on the Working Families line even though he had moved to Washington, D.C., to take a job there.

“In the absence of evidence to the contrary, Powers’s letters to the Board and his concomitant submission of an out-of-state driver’s license and lease agreement conclusively establish his intention to establish residency outside of this state,” the appeals court said.

That disqualifies Powers from the ballot — giving the Working Families Party the right to name Kryzan its candidate, the court said.

Kryzan might be pleased by this, however our house liberal Jacksonsmiles points out that this may actuallu force him to vote for Chris Lee.  I get the feeling there are more than a few Jon Powers devotees who are pissed off and will actually pull the lever for Lee, which will hurt Kryzan more than if they just voted for Powers.

More Democrats Caught Cheating In Ohio

The New York Post is reporting that House Rep John Hall’s former campaign manager, now one of his consultants, has been relieved of her duties for illegally voting in Ohio.

According to the post:

Amy Little, 49, of New Paltz, lost her $1,000-a- month consulting gig after the Democratic congressman learned that she may be investigated for vote fraud. “He terminated the contract Tuesday,” said a Hall spokesperson.

Little, Brooklyn resident Tate Hausman and two other out-of-state colleagues registered using a single Ohio address and illegally voted in the battleground state.

Talk about the change we need!

Grace Jones said she can not stand Sarah Palin

Jamaican-born disco diva Grace Jones said she can not stand Sarah Palin.

She told German magazine TV Spielfilm Wednesday that Palin stood for a backward vision of America laden with government restrictions of sexuality and social behavior.

Jones made the following quotes to German magazine TV Spielfilm.

“I believe a woman can present herself as a sex object if she has fun doing it”.

“I would have loved it if Hillary Clinton had pulled it off”.

“I can’t stand Sarah Palin. I bet a woman like that has no sense of humor.”

Judging by our picture of Jones she obviously has a sense of humor. As with all our celebrity endorsments we do not comment whether they endorse Barack Obama or not unless they explicity say so (Woody’s rule). In this case Jones has endorsed Hillary Clinton. So therefore we advise any fans of Grace Jones to write in Hillary on their ballot.

Chris Lee Has Big Lead In New SurveyUSA Poll

I lifted the following from our friends over at the BuffaloBean:

I just heard that Channel 2 News released a new SurveyUSA Poll during their noon news broadcast with the following results for the congressional race in the 26th district:

Chris Lee 48%
Alice Kryzan 34%
Undecided 18%

Looks like Alice’s smear campaign isn’t working out for her, and Chris Lee’s message is resonating big with the voters.

I’m in complete agreement with our favorite liberal jacksonsmiles when it come to Alice Kryzan.  She should be ashamed of her campaign.  Lying about Chris Lee and his family is disgraceful.  It looks like to voters aren’t buying her non-sense!

An Acorn Whistleblower Testifies in Court

The Obama campaign denies it “has any ties” to Acorn, but Mr. Obama’s ties are extensive. In 1992 he headed a registration effort for Project Vote, an Acorn partner at the time. He did so well that he was made a top trainer for Acorn’s Chicago conferences. In 1995, he represented Acorn in a key case upholding the constitutionality of the new Motor Voter Act — the first law passed by the Clinton administration — which created the mandated, nationwide postcard voter registration system that Acorn workers are using to flood election offices with bogus registrations.

Ms. MonCrief testified that in November 2007 Project Vote development director Karyn Gillette told her she had direct contact with the Obama campaign and had obtained their donor lists. Ms. MonCrief also testified she was given a spreadsheet to use in cultivating Obama donors who had maxed out on donations to the candidate, but who could contribute to voter registration efforts. Project Vote calls the allegation “absolutely false.”

Gregory Hall, a former Acorn employee, says he was told on his very first day in 2006 to engage in deceptive fund-raising tactics. Mr. Hall has founded a group called Speaking Truth to Power to push for a full airing of Acorn’s problems “so the group can heal itself from within.

Randy Kuhl Attends Monroe County Independence Party Event

U.S. Representative John R. “Randy” Kuhl, Jr. attended the Monroe County Independence Party meet and greet last night. Representative Kuhl, who is running on the Independence Party line, was on hand to welcome aboard the new county chairman and board members.

“I have always worked to be an independent voice who puts my constituents’ needs first,” said Representative Kuhl. “I am proud to run on the Independence Party line and look forward to working with party members across our district as we build a stronger, more competitive economy for Western New York.”

In July, Kuhl submitted over 1100 signatures from Independence Party members to qualify for the ballot, including over 550 signatures from Monroe County. Kuhl received more than 5,200 votes on the Independence Party line in 2006.

Robach Statement On Siena College poll

Citizens for Joe Robach reacted today to the latest Siena College Research poll showing Senator Robach with a commanding 13-point lead just five days before Election Day.

The poll, which is the second public poll released in the race for the 56th Senate District, confirms what the voters in our district have always known, that Senator Robach is a strong, independent voice who constantly fights for his constituents and always puts people before politics.

“I am thankful the great people of the 56th Senate District have seen through the negativity and are reacting so well to the positive, issues based campaign we are running,” said Senator Joe Robach. “I am glad to see my constituents are focused on results not rhetoric, actions not words.”

BREAKING — Siena Poll Has Robach’s Lead Increasing!

Liz Benjamin has the Siena College Polling results and it is good news for all of you Joe Robach fans. From Liz’s post:

Rochester GOP Sen. Joe Robach, who is a top target for the Democrats, has managed to widen his lead slightly over former Sen. Rick Dollinger (52-39, up from 49-38 last month) despite the fact that the DSCC is spending heavily to try to win back his seat.

Dollinger’s favorable rating has slipped slightly (43-34 from 36-25); he has been waging a fairly negative campaign against Robach in the 56h SD.

This is bad news for Dollinger — the more people get to know him the less they like him.  Maybe it’s all of that negative campaigning.  Let’s see how RICHard tries to spin this (my guess — because people are telling voters Robach is a Democrat!)
