Lee Concludes Districtwide Farm Tour

Chris Lee 26th congressional district candidate has been on a two week farm tour. During that time he visited with farmers in each of the district’s seven counties, Chris discussed the critical role the agricultural sector plays in creating jobs and growing Western New York’s economy. Monroe Rising has obtained a press release from the tour:

“While some seem to believe that farming is on the decline and losing importance, agriculture remains the number one industry in New York,” said Lee. “The recent hike in fuel prices has served as a reminder of the importance of producing our nation’s food locally.”

Lee started his tour last Monday at Stein Farm’s in Genesee County where he met with local farmers and received a tour of the farm. On Wednesday, Chris was in Monroe County where he was able to sit down with local farmers at Zuber Farms. Wrapping up the tour last week he met with outgoing Niagara County Farm President Paul Bencal and received a tour of Niagara Landing from Pete and Jackie Smith and met with Erie County farmers at Farmer’s Market at the Williamsville Mill.

This week, Chris received a tour of Coyne Farms in Livingston County on Tuesday from Brian and Greg Coyne. Finally, Chris concluded his tour today by touring Piedmonte Farms and MAGC Packaging in Orleans County with Dale Root, president of the Orleans County Farm Bureau. And later, visiting with Farmers in Wyoming County at Breezy Hill Farm.

“We need to encourage the continuation of a strong farm economy, protect our food supply, and promote the preservation of rural America,” concluded Lee. “This starts by protecting farmers and their labor force. I’ll work with farmers and government officials on a workable temporary legal workers program that keeps us safe, and provides the necessary workforce to feed our families.”
