Friends, John McCain will hold 3 rallies on his birthday August 29th to announce his Vice Presidential Candidate.  The three rallies will take place in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.  He will use these rallies to unveil the selection to his home state in hopes of raising his numbers in the three piviot/swing states.

Conveniently, the three top candidates in the Republican Veepstakes are Michigan native Mitt Romney, former Ohio Congressman/US Trade Representative/Director of the Office of Management and Budget Rob Portman, and former Governor of Pennsylvania and the first Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.

Personally, I believe either Ridge or Portman would be phenomenal choices (even though I left them of the Lemon Lymon Veepstakes in June). Ridge because his ties to Pennsylvania and his Security resume.  With him and McCain on a ticket, it would should how prepared that administration would be defend this nation.  Portman because of his popularity in Ohio (its rumored he could run for Governor or the Senate in two years) and his experience dealing with the economy from the government side.  In the latest Reuters/Zogby poll, McCain has a 8 point lead in that issue.  Portman would firm up that number solidly.
