It’s Tough To Stand Up To Your Boss — Right Jon?
Our friends over at the Buffalo Bean have two recent post on Jon Powers ducking issues. The first on Bob Lonsberry’s show last week. Part of their post included:
LONSBERRY: How has Nancy Pelosi done as Speaker of the House?
POWERS: You know she’s been uh… (long pause) the Democrats have accomplished some, you know, pretty interesting things since they’ve been in there, it’s been a challenge Washington has definitely not done enough, we don’t have a policy to really secure our energy right now…
And the second included a story from the Buffalo News noticing that Powers raised less money from the Buffalo area than Alice Kyrzan and is receiving much of his support from leftist extremist from outside of western NY:
But there’s a downside to Powers’ prolonged courtship of the netroots. It’s the reason he raised nearly twice as much money from New York City as he has from the Buffalo area, a fact that allows his opponents to charge that the 26th District might not be foremost in his mind if Powers makes his way to Washington.
“Jon Powers is campaigning the same way he’ll govern; from outside New York and inside the pockets of the special interests,” said Joy Langley, a spokesman for Davis, the millionaire industrialist who’s paying for his third congressional race with his own money.
These post point out why Jon Powers is unwilling to speak out against Washington insiders like Nancy Pelosi — he needs their money and support. If he is willing to sell-out before he even gets to Washington, what do you think he would do as a Congressman?

Are there any polls out there for this primary race?
So that’s why you want Davis to win - he’ll pretend to be a Democrat and fight other democrats.
So want a republican in the house… vote Jack Davis.
I hear Davis already gave up the Democratic Primary… he’s paying college kids to gather petitions to start another party line…. can’t buy one or bribe one… let’s create one! (check out buffalopundit.com for info)
There are not many polls, the internals are done no doubt. The few I have seen claim leans right.

And what Republicans have stood up to Bush to help end the Iraq war?
Looks like you install another double standard.
I am so tired of all the “progressives” out there telling me how they are so better than the Republicans. I have yet to hear one viable solution to creating jobs, solving the energy crisis or reducing taxes.
I will admit they have done a superb job pointing out what hasn’t been solved, but they have done NOTHING to offer any solutions of their own.
I don’t care if you are Dem or Rep, do your job and solve the needs of the 26th district.
I don’t believe Jon Powers is running to represent the people of WNY. He is the puppet at the end of the strings held by the most liberal, ineffective Democrats in our nation. Rangel wants to raise taxes to the highest level in history. Pelosi won’t even let Congress decide on what our energy policy should be.
What skills could Jon possibly bring to Congress? He hasn’t been successful in business. He hasn’t built orphanages and he hasn’t even put in a full week of substitute teaching. I suppose he could give Cynthia McKinney pointers on harassing the Capitol Hill police.

As usual you are typing while drinking/drugging. Here is a small list of Republicans who have spoke against the war
Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE)
Sen. John Warner (R-VA)
Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS)
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN)
Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR)
Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH)
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
You can get a list and what they said at

So does this mean that Powers is a puppet to his masters.
Ah go ahead do comment #3
“And what Republicans have stood up to Bush to help end the Iraq war?”
Ummm, first we would have to believe that doing so would be the right course of action. Just b/c you disagree with it doesn’t mean you are right.
I wish the left was so anti-intervention when we were meddling in serbia under Clinton.
