Some Liberals Aren’t That Bright — Or Maybe They Just Like To Lie

I was having lunch with a fellow blogger the other day and we had a interesting conversation. Are liberals really ignorant about how things work or do they deliberately get things wrong to fit their arguments?

Take the recent attempt by Harry Bronson to remove Legislature President Wayne Zyra. Occam had a great post on this and there is no need for a re-hash about those details, but it is hard to believe that this was little more than a publicity stunt — an attempt to focus on stuff that gets the liberal/progressive/socialists worked up.

They do this by writing posts that contain false information and then continue to repeatedly refer to their own false information to spew more of their hatred.

We make no secret of the fact that we regularly monitor rochesterturning.com.  It is entertaining and interesting to see what goes through those warped minds.  We found this gem on one of their recent post about Harry’s pr stunt to remove President Zyra:

Take, for example, the GOP in the County Leg voting to suspend the rules to silence the Dems.  (the link takes you to this comment)

[...] Take, for example, the GOP in the County Leg voting to suspend the rules to silence the Dems. [...]

This statement is flat out wrong –either total ignorance or a deliberate lie.  The Democrats were trying to suspend the rules (ironic for a group so dedicated to “the process”).  Removing Zyra wasn’t on the agenda so it would take 20 votes to suspend the rules and have the item considered.  This is a basic premise that would be taught in advanced college political science classes — such as pol.sci. 101.

Another lie or misinformation was that “only one republican would have to break ranks to remove Zyra.”  No, on that night 6 Republicans would have to break ranks. One would like to think that an attorney of Harry skills would have a basic understanding of this concept.

This post is already pretty long, but there is one more point worth making.  Democratic County Legislature staff member Jiminybizbo posted a comment recently on another county employee speaking out at RICHard Dollinger political stunt (surprisingly this event was ignored by mainstream media) where Dollinger tried to set Joe Robach up with a stacked house, and suggested a possible conflict of interest with a long definition of what constitutes a conflict of interest.  It has nothing to do with what than person did, but I’m sure a bunch of the liberal/progressive/socialist got worked up into a frenzy.

Funny, one would think a Democratic staff member who suggested that a fellow county employee was a drug addict on that same website would have violated some type of policy.  Well, maybe that would just be a violation of the rules of decency.

Anyway, these are a few facts for you to consider when you ask yourself: are some liberals just not that bright — or do they just like to lie?

  1. I think there are some posts (and comments) that need to just be taken with a grain of salt on both sides. With both MonroeRising.com and RochesterTurning.com, there are people that feel VERY strongly about their side of an issue.

People may present over-generalizations, inconsistent facts, partial truths, distort facts to make a point, or use innuendo to degrade or slander individuals — sometimes even without realizing it because they are so zealous about making their point.

I also think there are people that are willing to be reasonable and appreciate facts on both sides.

  2. I vote that liberals are just stupid.

Want proof? Simple, just look no further than the rambling, incoherent and poorly written posts of “jacksonsmiles”.

  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accident_(fallacy)

When we degrade to name calling or lumping all people in a group together because of the behavior of one, how does that result in a constructive conversation of issues?

  4. The blatant lies on some blogsites are incredible. That one blogger is a real dirtbag. The vast majority of his posts are malicious in nature. Even his own colleagues called him out on his character assasination. But they still moderate his lies and vicious personal attacks. At least we’re upfront about saying we moderate comments and will not post certain material. Don’t worry, it’ll come back on him tenfold someday.
