ALGore is in the Oil Business?
Remember a few weeks ago when Al Gore was telling us that we should move off of oil within 10 years? Turns out he’s in the oil business. Gore is a member of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers a major venture capital firm. The over $300 million green portfolio set up with Gore has many companies deeply invested in the fossil fuel business. One is the secretive Terralliance Technologies, which describes itself on its website as “an oil and gas exploration and production company.” Fortune reports that Terralliance “has already dug 100 wells around the world and is in the process of raising additional capital,” and that it “has developed software that purports to make it easier and cheaper to find and extract oil and natural gas.”
Fortune reporter Adam Lashinsky says, “It would be ironic, to say the least, if Kleiner’s first ‘green’ jackpot turns out to be a company that actually drills for oil.” Here is a link to a New York Times article from last year about the fossil fuel investments of Kleiner Perkins.
One thing we need to remember about Gore is that the 10 year clock never starts. 8 years ago he said the world only had 10 years to go. So we should only have 2 years left by his calculations. Maybe if he said we need to move off of oil in 10 years it would happen after he made his money in Oil.

The hypocrisy of AL Gore never seems to fail to amaze me.
Are you Bullwinkle? Why the name change?
I like Al Gore, but he does seem hypocritical on this issue.

I am a little the opposite, I never liked Gore. He had 8 years in the whitehouse and barely lifted a finger on the issue.
The problem is that if you want to believe in the issue, but with such flagrant hypocrisy. You have to wonder if he even believes it or if it really is as big an issue as he wants us to believe.
I know if I was att he core of such a cause and I thought it was going to wipe out humanity, I would do things differently. Yes he can fly, but take commercial flights, yes he can drive but does he need an entourage of limos and SUV’s idling with the AC on at an event that he tells you that is so important that you should ride your bike to.
I love his house boat, how big a carbon foot print does that leave?
