Two Peas in a Liberal Pod
Seeing that Monroe Rising has made me a true, real-life blogger, I’ve figured it would be good for me to check other blogs to see what the word on the street is. Yesterday, I saw on dailykos.com, John Kerry posted on a certain Democrats challenger in the NY-26. I just hope he didn’t do it from his Senate computer. Quotes from John Kerry via dailykos.
Apparently, John Kerry is a HUGE fan of Jon Powers.
“I first met Jon at a screening I attended of the documentary Gunner’s Palace. When I heard his story, and I talked to him, I was blown away. I then asked him to give the introduction to the speech I gave on dissent and patriotism at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Jon later told me that he remembers that day because it helped inspire him to run for Congress, a fact that I’m very proud of.”
I wonder if Kerry knows that Powers has such a shotty record on ethics?
“Why is this personal to me? Because I believe in the courage and character of a young man who was a platoon leader…”
Does John Kerry, a veteran himself, think it was wrong for Powers to start a charity and then have the proceeds of this act pay his living wage for three years while the people who are truly in need are given a couple soccer balls?
“When he came home, Jon started War Kids Relief, a program to help the Iraqi children and give them resources and education to resist recruitment by radical organizations. It’s only through efforts like that, reaching people in their local communities and being sensitive to local conditions, that we can move beyond the cycle of terrorism and radicalism. It’s an old cliché, but in this case it’s true: America always does well by doing good.”
Does John Kerry really believe, with the wheels of the Jon Powers for Congress campaign falling off, that this man is the true embodiment of the Democratic Party that he has been a life long member of?
“If we can help him pull it out, I’m sure we’ll have helped elect a man who will be a big asset to our party – and our principles – and our country - for a long time.”
I hope Kerry really finds out who the real Jon Powers is. Kerry also states that he has had Powers in Boston for fundraisers and events. I wonder if Senator Kerry knows about all the money Powers’ has raised without one cent being spent on mailings, tv commercials, or the money he tried to pay for his rent?
It appears to many that Powers’ is running because he needs a job. It would take him more than two years of teaching to earn that $77,000 he paid himself as director of War Kids Relief. Senator Kerry may want to reconsider his support of a guy with such a shoddy record.

Geez- only two years of teaching… yet he spent those two years making a difference for an entire youth culture in a country he fought bravely in?
Did you take hints from McCain’s spin doctor? Don’t forget (according the blogs who seem to have “the whole” story) he was also vice-president of policy for Veteran for America (formerly Vietnam Veterans of America).
Thanks again for proving that Jon Powers is by far the best candidate for this seat!!!
Just a quick question… where’s your Jack Davis post about his apologies for his gifts… or bribes as everyone in the IP party calls them?
Patience Woodman, patience. We try to spread posts out over time. We will have something on Davis a little later (a teaser to keep you coming back).
You”ll really like our next post — check back around 10:30 or 11:00 am!
jacksonnosense, you say powers made a difference for an entire youth cultue in a country. a more reputable source than you says it was only a few backpacks and some soccer balls. Again that source was the Buffalo news.
How to soccer balls and backpack make a world of difference in baghdad, mosul, kirkik, arbil, al basrah, samarra, an najaf, karbala, umm qasr when isurgents are waging war with the united states of america and killing your friends and family. im pretty sure you can eat or drink a soccer ball, or use it to rebuild your house. and what good is a backpack if a suicide bomber belw up your school?
jacksonnosense stop drinking the koolaid, its really doing something bad to the part of your brain that reasons common sense.
If they had the same tie they would look like twins. They sure think enough alike. Do we want John Kerry as our local congress rep?
I think Kerry and Powers have a lot in common. They both took war accomplishments and lied about them for political gain.
