I Still Don’t Think it Will Happen
Friends, on June 4th, I wrote a post stating that I’ll believe that Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee for President when the Democratic/Progressive/Liberal/Socialist officially nominate him.
Apparently I’m not alone in my thinking. Over at americanthinker.com, Dennis Keohane wrote an article stating the exact same thing.
“Many of us familiar with Hillary Clinton’s approach to achieving her goals refused to believe that she ever gave up all hope of winning the nomination and the presidency. Her words and actions on the subject of the convention itself always left the door open for a return, should Obama falter or suffer some calamity.”
He states that many super delegates having been getting the squeeze from the Clinton Camp on the level of giddiness for Obama and their security in his column, Clinton is stating that she wants her delegate seated out of “respect” for her accomplishments, and that she may even put her name on the ballot to be nominate. Even Obama believes Michigan and Florida should be fully seated, which would give popular vote wins to Clinton, if that’s the case then some Super Delegates, under Clinton urging, could sit out the first ballot and then cast their vote for Hillary on the second. These factors, along with Hillary’s popular supporters who plan on protesting outside Pepsi Arena in Denver could cause major problems with Obama and his campaigns sense of an electoral manifest destiny
“It looks like Obama’s belief in his inevitability may have led him into a blunder, making it easier for Hillary supporters to prevent a nomination on the first ballot. After that point, anything goes, as all super delegates and many pledged delegates are free to vote their preferences.”
If that does in fact happen, all hell will break loose. Thank god it will be in prime-time cause it will be a show not to be missed.

Internal political machinations aside, the two “instructive” books now out there on Obama certainly don’t help his prospects either.
I pray the scenario you describe will come to fruition. I will be glued to the tube in hopeful anticipation.
Ultimately, and despite this year’s being what should be a blindly “Democratic year”, Obama and his party’s radical fundamentals may actually prove to be so very alien even to the casual observers on the street that the Dems may actually implode. Well, for the good of the country and to restore my faith in America’s good ‘ole common sense, I can at least hope that will be the case.
Good analysis/post.
