Buffalo News Editorial slams Powers and Davis

As all our readers are aware we have been following Jon Powers and Jack Davis with what we believe is their willingness to say anything and do anything to win. With Jon Powers we have followed his War Kids Relief fund raiser. For Jack Davis we posted a huge story on his hiring Blanca Colon the wife of Independent Party boss  as a consultant.  It looks like the Buffalo News has editorialized on these and other things as well. What started out as bloggers digging, has turned into editorials and news stories. Many of the facts we have posted have become confirmed by major area news papers. Here is the latest editorial from the Buffalo News dated August 8th

This is what happens when you want to win too much. You pretend that the wives of influential party chairman are “consultants” and pay them $5,000 each for their “work,” or you pitch your altruistic efforts as “path breaking” when, in reality, they fall far short of the mark. With behavior like that, you could be a congressman. Coincidentally, that is just what Jack Davis and Jon Powers want to be. The Democratic candidates for the 26th Congressional District want it so much that they risk the accusation that they are willing to do anything to win. They should stop and take a deep breath. Western New Yorkers don’t need either of them that badly.

(snip)

The former Army captain Jon Powers touts the War Kids Relief nonprofit organization he started to protect Iraqi youth from Islamic radicals, but critics say that, besides paying Powers about $77,000 in salary, the organization has done little but send some soccer balls and backpacks to Iraq.

  1. Looks like a lot of confirmation for what has been said around here.

Correct me if I am wrong on this, but it Looks Like Davis paid off more than one party bosses wife. How did Monroe Rising miss this? The editorial also states he bribed the Erie counties (ahem… not so) Independent party chairman’s wife.

He claimed it was for “consulting” work, and indeed, one of the payments went to Coastal Consulting South of Venice, Fla., whose corporate headquarters happen to be in the mobile home owned by Erie County Independence Chairman Anthony L. Orsini. The company is headed by his wife, Judith

Again I don’t read the blog as much as I would like but was there a post on this?

  2. That’s ok… they also missed the fact that Powers only made 15 K from War Kids as per his financial disclosures. The rest of the money came as a salary for being vice president of policy for veterans for america.

A lot of other blogs seemed to have picked that truth up… but they seemed to miss that here. They even posted a copy of the statement on the blog that I read it on.

    hmmmm….. interesting.

—- I don’t see that editorial as a “slam.” It’s certainly negative, but it also (after reading the whole piece of it online a minute ago) gives advice to both candidates. Why would someone slam them… then say here’s what you have to do to win?

I’m not disagring it’s negative… but a slam? Doubt it.

  3. I don’t see the word Slam in the post either, as for that matter I don’t even see the word negative. The worse that was said was they will say anything to win.

The post also comments on the fact that MonroeRising has been following this story. This is a conservative leaning blog of course we are going to look at it.

You comment that other blogs picked up other facts, Those are all blogs that will not post any of our comments. Unlike those blogs every post about Jon Jon has comments from you in disagreement with.

I asked you once before where else do you post or comment? I bet that you get more access to this post than lefty ones.

  4. Every other place I post hast both negative and postive comments to both Republican and Democratic candidates or politicians (including Lee, Powers, Davis, and Kryzan.)

Although I can’t tell if they deny specific comments, they certainly don’t seem to be denying certain views.
