Still No Response From Powers’ Camp On War Kids Relief
Will Hunting contacted us yesterday and he’s still waiting for a response from Jon Powers’ hired gun, John Gerken (Jack Davis’ campaign manager in 2006) about the questions surrounding War Kids Relief. He still hasn’t received a response.
Here is the 2nd e-mail Will sent:
Dear Mr. Gerken,
I will attempt again to e-mail you. I know that some of these questions were answered in the Buffalo News article by Bob McCarthy (who I have CC’d) on this e-mail. But two more questions were raised by this article:
1) Does Jon Powers plan on releasing his Form 990 to the public on August 15th as well?
2) Why didn’t Jon Powers go to his two home state senators (Clinton and Schumer) who I am sure would have helped out this project? Which then leads to the question who really sought the funding Powers or his friend from Massachusetts?
I know you are busy, but I again think answering these questions would alleviate a lot of the pressure Mr. Powers is receiving. Always good to run to the light.
We’re still waiting! Maybe they were too busy counting all of that Charlie Rangle cash!

And you won’t get one Will. Powers’ staff claims he will respond to any and all inquiries about WKR but sadly that too is one of his lies.
Unfortunately, that teacher whose class of kids raised money for WKR couldn’t even get answers from Powers without having a secret meeting where she’d probably be patted down as he searched for wiretaps.
Jon never thought the people would find out what he did so he never had a contingency plan for how to explain all this. That’s why he pawned his problems off onto someone else.
That or the campaign doesn’t want to get involved with the likes of you.
The guy shouldn’t have to explain himself. When you’ve raised money and traveled to third world country during war time and published studies about the subject while making a little less than an average WNY wage as a full time job (as Buffalo Pundit showed the chrunched numbers that Bob McCarthy used with the disclaimer that they themselves may be false) …. then you can have the right to be a little b*tch about it.
You all scream at Mr. Powers for not releasing financial #’s…. then scream about financial numbers and pull figures out of the air?…. how is that possible? If the numbers are made up for false… then perhaps the whole made up story of this failure is false.
Why hasn’t Hunting called the campaign office? Why won’t he use his “real name” for the inquiry? Perhaps the campaign won’t response to faceless mud slingers? Most campaigns don’t.
I’m sure Hunting would call the campaign office… but then he’d have to give a real name when he asked to speak with Mr. Powers, and that we’d all find out that he in fact he probably works for Lee or Davis in some fashion. Even Mr. Powers campaign and Mrs. Kryzan’s campaign have my information as I’ve called their campaign for questions.
I was told by Davis’s campaign several times that my questions would be answer “through the media” and then later told the media wouldn’t print the story. Perhaps that is the case here, perhaps not.
Hunting then of course CC’s Bob McCarthy - has McCarthy responded to Hunting? Or does McCarthy just think he’s crazy too?
I know someone will say - well Jackson you ask questions of Lee & Davis and don’t do that…. aha! But I do. Both offices have my real name on file after asking several times to speak directly to the candidate about issues.
Hunting claims his website is for the benefit of the people and that he’s not targeting Mr Powers for good or bad, but as anyone can see in his online postings he blatently attacks Mr. Powers.
On a side note — if it’s a funraiser that Rangle held… and other people donated the money to be there wouldn’t that mean the money came from them and not Rangle? So techinically it’s not Rangle’s cash they’d be counting.
Keep up the lies… you’re doing great!
jacksonsmiles said, “…then you can have the right to be a little b*tch about it.”
Careful there jacksonsmiles. Your inappropriate durogatory terms offensive to women are shining through again.
You should probably take a break from here for a while. I can just imagine your computer screen at work covered with foam and spittle. Hopefully, you have a private office with a door that closes.
Basically, take it a little easy there my friend.
Smiley,
“I was told by Davis’s campaign several times that my questions would be answer “through the media” and then later told the media wouldn’t print the story. Perhaps that is the case here, perhaps not.”
So, your answer is we should just take their word for it and shut up? That we aren’t allowed to ask questions?
You keep coming on here and screeching that “its not true” and how evil we are to even discuss it (with repeated attempts to change the subject by slinging your own mud at other candidates). Yet, what you and Powers never do is actually address the issue.
It seems pretty simple to me, have Powers address the issue with some facts and some releases of information (such as tax info). Then, you could be proven right and Powers could be proven to merely be incompetent in his alleged fundraising job rather than sleazy.
But, instead of doing that, you cry, cry, cry that anyone is even discussing this. You say we have no right to talk about it b/c we didn’t go to Iraq? Is that really your new standard - that people who did not do something should not be allowed to speak on a subject or have an opinion?
Get a grip. If your boy Powers would simply produce some information relating to this issue proving what he claims is true, the issue would go away. Your ranting and raving is not going to accomplish that feat.
I never said it’s not true. I asked where the financial numbers came from that McCarthy had. I even said if they were true financial numbers and it was for 18 months its impressive what Powers did accomplish.
As for the Davis comment - I didn’t say to shut up and except it, I was pointing out that campaigns usually respond through media outlets.
I haven’t changed the subject. I’ve given my opinion every time, on the subject and every time I’ve asked questions orfother candidates or pointed out places where they’ve failed to perform and you’ve failed to mention it, you bring it back to Powers and one or two issues. I’ve actually brought the subject up in every time I’ve posted. Where are your responses to my questions? Oh you don’t have them because you don’t have any.
I don’t care if the issue goes away. From everyone I talked to - except for the few dozens haters on this blog - eveyone thinks Powers is a good guy and know he meant to do well. The newspaper article created disgussed for Davis because people are sick of dirty politics. I had three or four people on another blog who said they swung their vote for Powers because of Davis’s campaign tactics.
Your statement here is also idiodic: Powers could be proven to merely be incompetent
This guy in his mid 20’s created a charity, got works published, and almost got the goverment to give millions in that short period of time? He became a leading expert on a youth culture in just 2 short years of study (and 1 1/2 years of personal experience in the culture) and brought national attention That’s amazing!!
He did all that on what was possibly an average WNY salary. Go Jon Powers!
Thank you for proving how awesome this guy is and what a great impact he made!!!
Vote Powers!
(recant not a few dozens- a few or a dozen — had a typo because I was just so happy for you to prove how great of a person Powers is)
now that my post about Powers and only Powers is over I’ll ask another subject:
Here is a post from another blog today –
In reading today’s Washington Post story about the latest round of amazingly generous McCain donors, the quote from the Taco Bell supervisor who had given $9,200 to McCain sounds somehow familiar:
We funneled it through the channel in Florida because that’s the contact we had.
Where else have you heard someone say something like that?
——–
Kind of sounds like how Davis “funneled” money through the IP party wives… the funniest this is that the above blog wasn’t even referring to Davis - it was referring to another Republican.
Is Davis back to his old Republican supporting and funding self and asking his buddies for tricks to pull out of his sleaves? Could be.
No one in good conscience can vote for Jon Powers.
We’re supposed to be impressed that a kid in his mid 20’s figured out a way to steal $77,000 from children? Powers sounds like a real sh-tbag.
Buddy, if you praise this a–hole for stealing from children, your just as big of a scumbag as Powers himself.
Dear Mr. Jackonsmiles,
I am so disgusted with the tone of your comments, that going forward, I will skip over them. If you don’t have anything to say, in a constructive, pleasant or humorous way, please don’t say anything - isn’t that something you were taught growing up?
I find your negativity and nastiness nauseating and unnecessary.
Gidge — so you’re skipping everyone elses comments too?
Check this out from a blogger i found who knows how to do research:
“”"”"”"Also, I finally was able to confirm the information I posted yesterday. Jon started with VVAF (Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation), which later became Veteran’s for America as the Vice President of Policy. For a multimillion dollar organization. He performed policy work there before moving on to starting up War Kids. War Kids was spun off in March ‘07, and Jon took $15K in salary from that organization.
Regardless of what you think of that, it does not equate to someone enriching himself “off of orphaned children”. Unless $15k is enrichment to you, in which case you should aim higher, kid. “”"”"”"

looks like you boys need to get your facts straight.
good day.
Now Jackson — control yourself — You are starting to be vulgar again — I deleted your last comment because of naughty language. Your link goes to a story written by a campaign volunters and it contradicts what Jon Jon told the Buffalo News –
“He acknowledged that the organization raised between $150,000 and $250,000 over the course of its existence, with a substantial percentage dedicated to his salary.”
I don’t think $15k is a substantial part of between $150-250K. Let’s see who do I believe one of Jon Jon’s volunteers or the Buffalo News?
We can assume that someone who helps the campaign has access to Powers and numbers… orsomeone on the Buffalo News - especially a Republican reporter who has written “glorious” articles about Chris Lee and only negative articles about Democrats.
I’ll believe the buffalo news if they tell me where their numbers came from. or if they can show Powers recieved anything other than the 15 K from war kids.
America =s innocent until proven guilty,… and right now there is no actual evidence against Powers.
(i will stop being vulgar when everyone else does)
So, Jon Powers is refuting the newsstory that says he made $77,000 from War Kids Relief and that it was only $15,000.
Was that in his press release he sent out after that station released the $77k number?
I can’t believe Powers waited so long to call the Buffalo News reporter a liar if he knew the guy was lying all along?
Did Powers reach out to the news outlet and demand a retraction?
Why is this the first anyone is hearing about this? And from some blogger person? Call that reporter out jacksonsmiles! Don’t waste your time around here with us. You got more important fish to fry.
Is Powers going to bring a lawsuit against the reporter and the paper for slander and reporting misinformation about him? Who the hell is this darn reporter anyway to go off and write somethign positive about a republican! That is not what the comrads have allowed! He should be summarily punished!
This is getting good.
PS-and jackson, no one here at Monroerising has remotely verbally treated you the way you’ve treated us. Good thing we continue to moderate your vulgarity. You’re a real wild one.
Jon Powers does not <3 the truth.
