Niagara County Republican Party Chairman Henry Wojtaszek wants his rivals in the Democratic Party to give Jack Davis his money back.

A day after the release of a letter in which Democratic Party Chairman Dan Rivera called for a district attorney’s investigation into the handling of election petitions by Davis staffers, Wojtaszek publicly called on his Democratic counterpart to return every dollar his party has ever received from the Akron businessman he now accuses of wrongdoing.
“I believe it is important for political parties to try to maintain the highest political standards so voters can have faith in the integrity of our system,” Wojtaszek said in a statement released Tuesday. “So if Chairman Rivera believes Jack Davis broke the law, I applaud him for coming forward. But if he really believes in honesty and integrity, he will return the tens of thousands of dollars he has taken from the man he now describes as a lawbreaker.”
Last week, Rivera sent a letter to Niagara County District Attorney Michael Violante in which he called for an investigation into “irregularities” related to petitions filed by Davis supporters in the race for the 26th Congressional District. Rivera said he has provided the DA’s office with notarized affidavits from nine individuals who claimed to have signed petitions that were supposed to have been witnessed by a female Davis staff member, Kelly Taylor, but were actually circulated by a male member of the Davis team. Davis backers insist the petitions were legal and have been approved by the state Board of Elections.
On Tuesday, Rivera dismissed Wojtaszek’s request to return contributions from Davis as the latest in a series of attempts to discredit the local Democratic Party under his leadership. Rivera said local Democrats have received donations from Davis whom he said has also sponsored a couple of the party’s golf outings. He added that the contributions — no matter what type or amount — do not add up to Rivera overlooking what he believes may have been violations of election law on the part of Davis staffers.
“Is what Wojtaszek saying is that he’d keep his mouth shut if someone paid him enough money, even if he knew they did something illegal?” Rivera said.
Rivera insisted that his issue was not with Davis himself, but rather with members of the Davis campaign who handled his petitions.
“I never said Jack Davis has done anything illegal,” Rivera said. “I never stated that.”

the republicans sure like to ask people to give back money…
will they give back all the money Davis gave when he was a Republican? Is he asking Cheney to give back the thousand bucks or so Davis gave him a few years back? Or how both all the money he gave Reynolds before he ran against him? Or those PACS he gave money too but hates?
why is the head of the Rep. party more disgusted with the Dem. party than with Jack Davis himself? Perhaps because he wants Davis to win because he’s afraid to face Jon Powers?
by the way, you’ve claimed on here that Mr.Power’s campaign has been “sunk” or “ended”or “terminated” a few dozen times, yet here he is with dozens of endorsements, the political parties standing behind him, wny’ers still supporting him and his grass roots efforts.
years i say grass root because if you look at Lee’s individualized donors (not the amount of $$ they give but the actual number of donors) about the same amount of people from outside the state donated to Lee than those in district… although a lot did come from NY -they weren’t in district… and a lot were duplicate $ 2300 donations, and a lot we the last name Lee.

The Niagara Democrat Political machine will attack Davis at the request of Jon Powers but, like Powers and the money he gets from strip club owners, will not stand on principle and return the money from the guy they are attacking.
That is because they are whores for Jack Davis’ money. Rivera needs to worry more about how he manhandles female Democrat committee members than jeopardizing the Jack Davis money train.
Actually, Rivera says at the end that Davis is not at fault for the alleged petition fraud. He must want to make sure the flow of money from Jack Davis keeps coming. That must have really pissed off Jon Powers. It makes it more of a story about some scrub campaign hack and not about the candidate himself.

Jackson, Powers most likely got those endorsements before he committed all these illegal, questionable and unethical acts. But, please feel free to list all those who knowingly endorsed his candidacy after finding out that he is a lying, insensitive, crook.

Honestly, I think I’d rather see a Powers v Lee race now. Because of Powers’ continuous screw ups, I think Lee wins bigger against Powers than he will against Davis. It’s obvious that Chris Lee wins either way though. Please, you do know this, right?.

At the end of the article he states that he never said Jack Davis did anything illegal, which he didn’t if he submitted the petitions without knowledge of his staffs actions (which we all know is BS). But if the article or statements are used in court Rivera has to be careful of what he says to the press.
Thank you for wanting Powers to win the primary. At least we agree on that. I’m sure all democrats appreciate your support of the endorsed candidate. You should donate money to him to ensure his victory… or wait maybe you’ve been to a strip club, or clubbed a baby seal to death, or your secret lover had an abortion then he’d have to give it all back.
give me a break, your logic is pathetic and you’ve never met half the candidates you’ve written about in a real setting (seeing someone in a parade doesn’t count, it’s like having a layover in LAX for an hour and claiming you’ve stayed in California and love it).
Powers can sneeze wrong and you all ask him to step down, or say he’s finished, or sank his campaign….
but other candidates & their supporters actually break the law (bribe money, copywrite infringement, petition fraud) and you cheer for them… it’s great to see where your moral good vs. bad line is.

He didn’t break FEC law with the rent issue, he gave the money back immediately agreed with the FEC to put it back before it ever actually hit the press. Davis paid more than Powers to his own company for rent, but it was a warehouse so that’s morally ok? I wonder why a millionaire needs to pay $ 4000 rent to his own building? Its on his expenditures filed with the FEC.
You say Powers is off with people other than WNY…. yet he had more # of contributors in district than any other candidate (not $$$ amount but # of people).
Lee had about the same amount of people outside the state who donated than those in the district. He made his money from mommy and daddy and is currently unemployed just like your enemy Jon Powers and his money was made from his family company selling out to another state costing our district hundreds of jobs.
Davis has no support in district except Republicans so they can dirty Powers before the general election. Davis wags finger at Powers for consulting with people outside WNY yet all of his consultants are from New Jersey or Washington. He has to pay people to petition for him and even they screw that up.
Davis and Lee are a bunch of rich cry babies because they have found out they can’t buy everything they want and the Republicans realized they are going to lose their seat this fall.

I think your realization the Jon Powers is not the person you thought he was is starting to freak you out. It happens in these types of situations. You’re not sure how to react or proceed when the leader falls from his ivory tower.
Jon Powers made money by creating a fake non-profit that never delivered on the promise it made to thousands of children. Instead of accepting its failure quietly, Powers instead used the self promotional buzz about the failed organization to propell him into a political campaign.
We didn’t make this or all his other stuff up. No sir. Jon Powers did all that on his very own. Our reporting on the bad things that Jon Powers does is not slanderous or lies. It’s the truth as created and established by Jon Powers.
