Al Gore And Global Warming
(Editor’s note: we welcome new blogger Jdelaney3 to monroerising.com — he currently has a site opinorlog which is listed on our blogroll.)
Al Gore’s oft-repeated assertion that here exists a “consensus” within the scientific community that human activity has accelerated global warming to perilous levels was officially and strongly debunked in May by thousands of participating scientists of the Oregon Institute of Science & Medicine(OISM).
Rejecting the climatic doomsday scenarios advanced by Gore, environmental activists and their opportunistic political accomplices in D.C., 31,000 scientists petitioned the U.S. Government to reject Kyoto or any similar proposals noting that dire “predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in minor greenhousegases like CO2 are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge” and that “proposed limits on greenhouse gases would, in fact, harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.”
Their petition maintained that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of CO2, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will in the foreseeable future cause, catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of Earth’s climate.”
Though not receiving widespread coverage in the mainstream media, the petition went on to state that “there is substantial evidence that increased CO2 is environmentally helpful…creating many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”
Just to keep it in perspective, the countervailing “scientific consenus” about which Gore and his minions are so fond of touting reflects the collective viewpoints of 600 scientists who represent less than 1% of the worldwide scientific community!
Is it any wonder why Gore stubbornly and nimbly dodges any real debate on the “issue” with those representing a divergent scientific viewpoint?
Ah, yet again, another shattered myth perpetuated by our ambitious friends on the far left. Looks like the high priests of environmentalism will soon need to find another way to advance their dreams of social engineering and political dominance. We can only hope that their fall from grace occurs before they’ve managed to completely wreck our economy.
(”The largest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy, and prosperity is not longer socialism. It is, instead, the ambitious, arrogant, unscrupulous ideology of environmentalism.” Pres. Vaclav Klaus, President of Czech Republic, May 2008)

Welcome Aboard JDelaney3, Please post often.
I have an even more cynical viewpoint. Its all about creating trading markets where people like George Soros can get a commission on what you exhale. Its turning carbon dioxide into gold. Mr Gore is no stranger to this practice. Whenever he shows his hypocrisies on their issue like using private jets when many public ones are available to the same locations, using 20 times the energy in his home as the average Nashville resident, or his most recent act at net roots (co-sponsored by moveon.org a huge benefactor of Soros, and other hyper left groups) he told people to ride their bicycles to the event. This while his caravan of SUV’s and Limousines stood outside running to keep the air conditioners on. He then Justifies these hypocrisies by saying he purchased carbon credits in a market that he and people like Soros control.
So what are we to believe? That Al gore does not even believe in his own cause. He refuses to do the minimal of what he asks of you. Al least turn your car off while you are speaking for an hour!
I believe Gore is brain Damaged from losing an election that he had everything going for him, to an oilman who they criticize as being stupid.
Great post!
Welcome to Monroerising Jdelaney3.
I recently had it confirmed to me by the most reputable source that Global Warming is a farce.
Last week on Jay Leno (I’m pretty sure) he had on two guys from the show Ice Road Truckers. When he asked them what they thought about Global Warming they replied something to the effect of, “When it’s 60 degrees below zero and you got icicles hanging from your beard, it’s hard to believe in Global Warming.
Well, that’s good enough for me! I’ll listen to a couple of hardworking, rough and tumble trucker guys over Algore any day!
I suppose you don’t believe the earth is round either. Amazing. Just because some people are trying to scam others with “carbon credits” doesn’t mean the original issue is false. So smoking doesn’t cause cancer, right? All those scam artists are just trying to sell patches and gum!
I love how Jdelany3 sites OISM, as if they’re a point of authority in the matter. They’re a group that formed with it’s main purpose being to “debunking global warming”. Quite scientific, to start off with with such an assumption and then look for things that support your view. Lots of good info about this group can be found here.
You want proof of whats going on with weather? Go get a farmers almanac and look at the planting zones. Over the past 10 years they’ve shifted both north and south of the equator, with the desert region expanding and the polar regions shrinking. They’re growing corn in Syberia now, something not possible 10 years ago…
Just today there was a story about a large ice shelf breaking free in the Arctic. Is it being caused by people? You bet it is. What specific thing or things we’re doing to cause it is debatable, but to deny what’s right in front of your eyes is just dumb.
So, you go ahead and believe in what a trucker that works in a cold climate says about something they don’t understand. I’m going to believe the people that know and track weather and arctic ice shelves, which are saying this is an issue. I’m not going to by any “carbon credits”, but I’m sure going to try to change my behavior to reduce my waste and resource usage, and encourage others to do the same.
Why do we ignore the past? Didn’t we learn anyhting from the dinosaurs? They ignored their global warming signs and look what happened to them. I don’t want to end up like them.
Woody, the earth is round and smoking causes cancer in some people. I still don’t believe in manmade global warming either though.
Some people get so mad when you point out that the Algore is full of bs. I suppose you think Algore deserved to beat out that old lady who was brutally beaten by the Nazis for saving children’s lives during WWII though.
I suppose you also believe that if the US obeys all of the lunatic “prevent global warming” rules and regulations and China doesn’t, then the US won’t get warmer… only China will. *laughs*
Good point Cincinnatus. Maybe the dinosaurs shouldn’t have used so much hairspray. Isn’t is true that dinosaurs built the smokestacks at Kodak on Ridge Road also? They should have driven more efficient and greener cars too. Then they wouldn’t have all died.
Damn dinosaurs. Hmmm, if/when all humanity croaks because of manmade global warming, what fuel will the next species get from our demise?
The earth is what? Millions of years old? Factories have been around for what? Around 150? People wrecked the millions of years old earth in 150 years?
Wow.
@Woody
How is reading a farmers almanac from 10 years back proof? Weather cycles are much greater that 10 years. Sorry but just because I see something does not prove a cause effect. All scientific studies start with a hypothesis. If 31,000 scientists start with a premise of debunking global warming whats wrong with that? If they use a scientific method and the result is that global warming is not as big an issue as some will have us believe that’s science as well.
When you have a movement that was started by a bitter politician whose target always appears to be the person who defeated him. (we all know that a politician would never lie to us) and that politician seems to be a hypocrite (one of your favorite words). Then throw in the fact that its largest protagonists like Soros is getting rich off of it, a good skeptical scientist should question it.
Do you know why they call it Greenland? Because it used to be green. There are records of Norse explorers going over there in the 12th century and growing crops everywhere.
As for your Siberia (maybe its because you misspelled it when you googled corn syberia) according to the FAS
http://www.fas.usda.gov/pecad2/highlights/2005/03/Russia_Ag/index.htm it was down in the 90’s and has picked back up again. So if you go back 25 years there was plenty of corn in Siberia.
We could go tit for tat back and forth, however neither you nor I can be sure of global warming, its severity and effects. So unlike Al Gore wants, lets have the debate and leave the farmers almanac on the nightstand for when we have trouble sleeping.
Woody
I don’t need you or gore to tell me not to waste. How bad is your behavior? We were taught as children waste not want not. I have always lived my life as such. Maybe if the government did not create a nanny state we wouldn’t need to tell people that.
Woody,
Are you sure that ice breaking off isn’t like the ice in Al Gores honest scientifically based documentary? You know the pictures he borrowed from the movie “The day after tomorrow”. Just to refresh your memory it was fake ice made of styrofoam. Styrofoam is a substance Al Gore wants us to stop creating, unless it helps him get a message across not to create styrofoam.

woody’
you are a brave man or woman to post your strange opinion here. It doesn’t seem very well researched. You, of course know of the strange weather 500 years ago when Vikings grew crops in Greenland, yet Europe close in time , experienced a mini ice age? Why are Mt. Shastas glaciers growing today? Why are portions of Antarctic ice sheets deepening? The science is not in, Algore is a simplistic political opportunist. Ive seen a Woods Hole site change because of a chart showing atmospheric C02 in contiguous ice cores increasing steadily for 160 K years, from a time before big, bad America, If the science doesn’t fit the agenda…?
I think thats a pretty good post for a first one jDelaney. Please keep it up.
I am old enough to remember the 70’s when the crazies were warning us of a coming Ice Age. At that time it was your air conditioner and hairspray that was causing the problem. I think we should just use more hairspray and put freon back in the air conditioners. Then we could cool off the global warming.
Well Done JD’, keep it up
