26th C.D. Late Entry GOP Candidate Chris Lee Out Raises All Dem Opponents In 2nd Qtr
I found this over at Real Clear Politics. Chris Lee has more funds on hand compared to the Democrats in the race, including millionaire Jack Davis and the Liberal Radical’s choice, Jon Powers. Even without his loan, Lee got more support than those challenging him. The bold emphasis is mine.
– New York 26: Rep. Tom Reynolds disappointed fellow Republicans by deciding to step down after this year, but a late and divisive Democratic primary could help the GOP keep a seat. National Democrats favor Iraq war veteran Jon Powers, who raised $272,000in the Second Quarter to add to his already impressive haul. He finished the period with $489,000 cash on hand. Attorney Alice Kryzan pulled in $69,000 and still has $247,000 in the bank, while 2004 and 2006 nominee Jack Davis, the plaintiff who just got the Millionaire’s Amendment overturned, hasn’t raised a dime since kicking off his campaign but loaned himself $35,000. Businessman Chris Lee has the Republican field to himself for now, and has raised $351,000 in his first quarter. Add that to a $320,000 loan and Lee has $636,000 in the bank, a nice head start especially if Democrats are forced to deplete their warchests.
What’s up with Jon Powers and Jack Davis? Powers’ political workers keep talking about his supposed momentum. Apparently, it’s the same as that non-for-profit to help kids — just talk. And Davis only put enough money in his account to cover the gas price break he gave people at the Greece gas station. Oh well.
Great job Chris. Everyone knows you got into this race late, but your fundraising has not only surpassed expectations, but it has also surpassed the fundraising of all of your opponents in Qtr 2. Keep up the hard work and we look forward to your victory come November.

Let me see if I have this straight.
It is “unbelievable” that David Nachbar loaned his campaign $175,000.
However, Christopher Lee loans himself $320,000, and gets a “good job”.
No need for consistency here.
Howdy Rotten,
I didn’t write the other article so I’m not being inconsistent. I congratulated Chris Lee for the $351,000 that he raised on his own, not for the $320,000 he loaned himself. That should be pretty easy to figure out.
I know that Monroerising is held to a higher standard compared to the Liberal Radical sites, but why don’t they have to “be consistent” according to this definition?
So, the liberals get to attack candidates they oppose, but we’re supposed to go after those that we don’t support AND those that we do. Really?
Hmmm, I’m pretty sure that there’s some form of inconsistency there somewhere.
Did Chris Lee get the Working Families line? No, because he’s a former business owner and they don’t support them.
Did Dave Nachbar get the Working Familes line? Yes, because he’s a fomer corporate executive and they support them.
Kinda funny, huh?
If Nachbar wins, does he have to take the hypocritic oath?

Good to see you again, you need to come around more often. I have learned there is a difference between this blog and the liberal ones. We still believe in the first amendment. We actually disagree at times. Personally I think its fine that Nachbar made a loan to his campaign. Its his money he worked for it (I am assuming he did at least, but its still his money) so in this country we have freedoms. If Chris Lee wants to loan his campaign money and its legal go for it.
As conservatives we do not see the legal acquisition of wealth and the right to do with it as we see fit a bad thing. What we do see as a bad thing is to be able to take someones money away in the form of taxes and then spend it on constituents in the hopes of getting re-elected.
I’m curious what the breakdown is for where that $351,000 came from. What is small contributions, or large $6,000 checks from large contributors? Given the stink here about how some candidates are getting “huge checks” from the Wegman family, I’d love know if that’s the case here.
From what I can find, close to half that ($175,000) came from one event that Congressman Tom Reynolds held for him. (There were about 320 people there, so ~$550 a head…)
I love how there’s gnashing of teeth here about how Davis didn’t pony up a lot of money for his campaign yet. But no mention of how Chris Lee (who is also a multi-millionaire) that’s pledged to donate one million of his own funds to his election, but hasn’t done so yet.
Care to shed some light on that one? You chided Jack for this above in this very post for doing something the politician you’re praising did exactly. Can’t blame that on another poster’s point of view. I’ll get my top ready, since I’m sure there’s some spin headed this way soon…
Oh, and as for the Working Families line, it’s already been debunked by gtree. Nachbar approached them and asked for their support, Lee and others did not. It’s that simple. It would be like complaining that your neighbor got a loan from a bank to repair his house, but you didn’t. Never mind that you never applied to the bank for the loan… See the flaw?
“Given the stink here about how some candidates are getting “huge checks” from the Wegman family, I’d love know if that’s the case here.”
Actually, mommy, sister, brother, stepbrother, etc, etc, are just giving to RICHard and no one else.
Dick couldn’t get many others to donate besides the family.
Corporate executive Dave Nachbar got the Working Families line despite not following the endorsement rules of the party.
WFP sold out the working men and women of this community.
WFP is now owned by the democrats.
“Oh, and as for the Working Families line, it’s already been debunked by gtree.”
Who is gtree to debunk stories about questionable actions by the Working Families Party?
woody nice link, i know when i look for the truth in news, i check the buffalo pundit, a liberal blog that openly advertises for jon powers. thats a credible news site.
Met Chris a few weeks ago. Came across as a genuinely decent, soft-spoken and thoughtful man. And, of course his professional background is impressive. He was bothered by an aching back at the time and I hope he has since recovered. We need his energy, leadership, authenticity, enthusiasm and wisdom. I am also impressed by his MBA and successful business background. FINALLY, someone in D.C. who really understands economics! !It can only benefit us all. Keep up the good work, Chris. We’re behind you 100%!
