Carrie Andrews Makes An Ass Of Herself At County Legislature Meeting

I had two e-mails from people who attended last night’s County Legislature meeting.  There was material in those e-mails for several posts, but without question, Carrie Andrews said something very stupid that raised the ire of Republicans in attendance, and that is our lead story from last night’s meeting.

That fact that Miss Andrews said something stupid shouldn’t really be a surprise — many will remember her piece in the Democrat and Chronicle when she was stating how happy she was that the Democratic candidate for President wasn’t a white male (we all know how bad they are) and she wrote what is widely regarded as one of the dumbest and most egotistical lines we have seen from a County Legislator in quite awhile:

I have experienced sitting in a business meeting knowing full well that the person I’m working with is more interested in sneaking glances down my blouse than listening to what I was saying.

As we have pointed out before, Carrie doesn’t really have that much to sneak a glance at — but I digress — let me get back to the point of this post.

Evidently, she was complaining about how bad Republicans are, (I would assume she doesn’t include County Budget Director Scott Adair in this group) when she made reference to the Public Defender Fiasco (led by our good friend Assemblyman David Gantt) and said that Republican actions on the night of the vote for a Public Defender were among “the most racist actions” she had seen.  This led to groans of disgust from most on the Republican side.

This really shows how out of touch Carrie is.  Let’s see — you hold a public meeting, the county legislature plans on meeting its legal obligation to appoint a public defender, a Democratic elected official (an African-American state official) teams up with “sister” Grace and the whinos and a handful of 1960’s protesters who hoot and holler, vows to disrupt your meeting.  What would you do?

How about having extra security and taking precautions to guarantee people’s safety?  That makes sense to me. That’s what I would do if if was David Gantt protesting or if it was Bob Duffy, Jim Alesi, Joe Morelle, Joe Robach, Adam McFadden or anyone else.

Evidently, treating everyone the same is racism to Carrie Andrews.  Who says Democrats are out of touch with reality?

One Response to “Carrie Andrews Makes An Ass Of Herself At County Legislature Meeting”

  1. Glad you reported on this. The whole night was an interesting spectacle, really… mainly of the Dems making asses of themselves. There were NUMEROUS childlike accusations that we were being unfair and partisan, when another month to speculate on a mere TRUSTEE would only bring about more political bickering and unfair scrutiny into the life of a perfectly acceptable (and rather unpolitical!) candidate.

PLUS: This is politics, guys. If you ever have the misfortune of taking over the leg, you wouldn’t be putting up with this kind of bullshit either.
