Maggie Brooks May Not Know How Important Her Decision Really Was.

Some people (mainly local liberals and just a few in the media) are desperately trying to spin Brooks’ historical move to request and obtain the resignation of a longtime political party Chairman Steve Minarik as a political ploy.  Others want to now paint a picture that the local Republican party is in disarray and is poised for more losses come November.

Well, here’s my take.

This is absolutely friggin’ great!  The Democrat political operatives are furious right now.  Believe me.  They just lost their only chance to beat Jim Alesi and Joe Robach and to then roll those wins over into more in county and town races next year.

As should be blatantly obvious to everyone paying attention, local democrat campaigns this year were all going to be:

1. Steve Minarik is a very bad man.

2. So and so elected official is tied to Steve Minarik.

3. Vote for so and so’s democrat opponent.

4. We think voters are dumb.  (that one may not necessarily be in the ad)

Incredibly lazy and mindless, but potentially effective none the less.

Now what the heck are the Democrats going to do?  They just lost their entire political strategy!  They have no real solutions to any of the challenges taxpayers are facing locally.  Except to make our lives worse by forcing Brooks to raise taxes by blocking any and all solutions put forth by her or other republicans.

So now what?  Outwork or out-like Joe Robach?  Overcome Alesi’s success in keeping businesses here locally?  No way in hell.  Sorry RICHard Dollinger and Dave Nachbar, you might as well tell your New York City Political Attack Machine to call off the dogs.  Stop sending us local folks your lying and illegal political hack mailings and hang up on offending voters with your nasty, aggressive robo-calls.  They’re not working.

Or Rick and Dave, you can keep ticking people here off.  It’s totally up to you two how you want this to go down.  Save some shred of respect and maybe you can win at something else.  It’s not too late to be looked at by people as good men.

These Senate seats are staying right where they belong… with the people of Rochester and Monroe County.  Sorry, but New York City can’t have them.

Same goes for Joe Errigo, Steve Hawley, George Maziarz, Mike Nozzolio, and Bill Reilich.  When push comes to shove, I think people here are looking for balance.

Heck, I’m in such a good mood about the political climate right now that I’ll even say that between these guys and Joe Morelle, Susan John and David Koon, Rochester and Monroe County has fared better than it ever has before with this Republican and Democrat delegation.  Throw in Maggie Brooks and Bob Duffy and we really have a pretty good team working for us in this community.  We just kinda like political dustups.  It’s in our blood.

Don’t be surprised.  I obviously don’t ever want to be exactly like the Buffalo area, but many Reps and Dems over there work together with excellent results.  If we all got on the same page here in Rochester/Monroe, man, we’d be unstoppable.  Then we could go back to claiming our Gurling-given title of Smugtown USA!  *cue the Rocky music*

I cannot and will not include David Gantt though in this equation.  His obvious and damaging blocking of having good things happen here locally because he doesn’t control them, or just so he can can control them, is getting old.  Add to that his several corrupt dealings with his former staff member, as well as his complete general disregard for the people and the media, and you have a political power broker that I don’t think our community needs.

He is the albatross that will eventually bring down the local Democrat Party.  And while I’m obviously not speaking for him, I really do think Joe Morelle knows this.  It’s time for Gantt to go so we can come together as a community and start doing what’s right for the people.  David Gantt’s brand of toxic politics deserves to be retired along with the old ways of the GOP.

It’s time for a change on the Democrats side too.  And the media should be just as supportive of the Democrats as they are being right now of Maggie Brooks.

C’mon guys.  You can do it too.

One Response to “Maggie Brooks May Not Know How Important Her Decision Really Was.”

  1. Maggie showed great leadership and once and for all proved the local republican agenda is hers and that she leads the party. For the longest time in the loony left blogs we kept hearing that Maggie was a puppet to Minarik.

Minarik was tough no doubt, he led the republicans to a majority. However in politics everything changes and it comes time to move on. Minarik just needed to be reminded it was his time to move on.

With that move Maggie has restored my belief in her as a leader.
