Does She Really Deserve A Vacation?

I saw a report the other day on the Washington, DC website TheHill.com that New York Senator Hillary Clinton would be taking a month long vacation due to her fatigue (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/clinton-takes-month-off-2008-06-17.html).  That leads me to ask does she really deserve a vacation?

She had been formerly running for president for the past 18 months, this after her campaign for re-election for her Senate seat for the bulk of the 2006 calender year.  That means for the past 25 months, at least she has been in campaign mode.  That dosen’t leave a lot of time to represent the people of New York in the United States Senate.  The plurality of voters in New York elected her to be one of the two voices in America’s upper house but instead she seems to be collecting her salary while running for office.  I don’t see how that is right.

Now its is reported by The Hill and numerous Senate colleagues that she will be taking a vacation with her husband till July 7th or 8th, after Congress’s Independance Day recess.  Her spokesperson has said that Senator Clinton:

“Took some well-deserved R&R with her family last week, and she’ll be back here before you know it. In the meantime, she continues to work for New York and America, and she’ll be fighting harder than ever for the issues she has throughout her public life.”

It is also stated by Majority Whip, Dick Durbin, that as with the case during the primaries, Senator Clinton would return for critcal votes.  Aren’t all votes in the Senate critical?  The Senate decides, along with the House of Representatives, the laws of this nation.  Aren’t each of these votes and laws critical to the continued sucess of our nation?  I can’t figure out who exactly is dropping the ball here; Seantor Clinton or the Democratic Party?

Senator Diane Feinstein mention that she thinks “Sen. Clinton is entitled to a little R&R.”  Hmmm, Rest and Relaxation because your too tired from not doing your job as a representative of the people.  Just like our founding fathers believed.

  1. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but thank goodness we have Chuck Schumer. He actually at least tries to do something. Hillary hasn’t done anything since she duped New Yorkers into giving her a springboard to run for the presidency.

I’m still looking for Hillary’s 250,000 jobs she promised us. I only need 1.

  2. Guap, Joe Spector at the D&C just put on the Political Perspective blog that on June 27th Hillary and Barack will be campaigning together.
You and your link tell me she’ll be on vacation. I didn’t know when her and Bill go on vacation, they don’t go to Aruba or the Bahamas or Tahiti. They go to Obama campaign bus. I wonder how her tan will look when she FINALLY gets back to doing her job.
