Friends, in today’s New York Post, there is a story about a recent run-in between Governor Paterson and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. These two men were trying to compromise on the state taking control over the New York City’s Off Track Betting.
Apparently, Governor Paterson is unhappy with the way in which the Honorable Mayor presented himself during negotiations. As Paterson is quoted as saying, “He appears to be self-destructing.” According to the grapevine, the Mayor has gone of the deep end and is now channeling everyone’s favorite three felons Governor, Eliot “I like wearing socks” Spitzer. While Bloomberg was demanding that the State take over 60 OTB’s in the Big Apple while making sure the City still gets $18 million in revenue.
Now I know Bloomberg used to be a Republican (and a Democrat), but is now an independent, but everyday now he is becoming more and more inline with New York City Democratic/Liberal/Progressive/Socialists while the Governor is going the opposite way. Why should the entire state be responsible for New York City’s affairs? Since Bloomberg is on a NYC D/L/P/S binge he can’t be trusted…so the Governor says; “you can’t trust him.”
Say’s Governor Paterson:
“His presidential thing didn’t work out, term limits is looming to force him out, he’s waiting and waiting to be asked to be vice president, congestion pricing didn’t happen, he lost teacher tenure, the Jets Stadium, and OTB isn’t going the way he wants it…With Bloomberg, you know why he’s upset, but he has the same kind of anger that reminds you of Spitzer.”
Don’t all those things he asked for sound like Democratic values and wants? He’s waiting to be asked Vice President? Apparently he didn’t view Monroe Risings recent post on possible Veeps, his name wasn’t mentioned anywhere, and I have a feeling his number won’t be called by Obama or McCain. Paterson thinks that Bloomberg will challenge him for Governor in 2010, however he follows that up with:
“Its obvious that Bloomberg has little use for the kind of people who come from Queens and Staten Island, so how is he going to approach the people of Oswego, Lewis counties, and Buffalo?…The people of New York City may be OK with the mayor taking off and flying to his private home in Bermuda every weekend, but if he did that on a state level, I think people would send him a different message.”
So Bloomberg is throwing fits like the “Steamroller,” I only wonder how long it is before this blowhard is dubbed “Steamroller 2.0”
