Gantt’s “For Me To Know, And You To Find Out” Was On WHAM-TV Reporters Blog
Thanks to our favorite liberal, Rottenchester over at the Fighting 29th, he sent me an e-mail with a link to the WHAM-TV reporters blog that has Rachel Barnhart’s blog about Assemblyman Gantt and the 3rd grade school yard taunt “that’s for me to know and you to find out” in response to her questioning why he would introduce a bill he doesn’t support.
I don’t think many people saw the blog — I’ve talked to many people who were shocked at Gantt’s comments and surprised they hadn’t heard about this.
One side note: I’ve been told by some Albany insiders, who will remain nameless, that it is actually very common for a legislator to introduce a piece of legislation that they don’t want passed. Introducing the bill gives them the opportunity of not requesting the bill be considered by the appropriate committee and thereby insuring the bill won’t pass. Also, depending on the issue, introducing a bill may give them cover on a controversial issue. They often point to a bill they’ve introduced as proof of their commitment to that issue — “I’m really fighting to get this bill passed.”

Great posts Cincy. Here’s the exchange from the article. It’s too priceless to not be repeated over and over again.
“Gantt then said he doesn’t support his own bill! He said he still opposes red light cameras.
“Why would you submit a bill with your own name on it if you don’t support it?” I asked.
“That’s for me to know, and for you to find out,” Gantt said.”
What the reporter left out of the article was, as Gantt left, he placed his thumbs in his ears and, while waving his hands, stuck out his tongue to make the ‘thhhppphhh’ sounds and said, “Na na na boo boo, stick your head in poo poo.”
I’m told this was a verbatim rendition of his floor debate on this issue.
Seriously, this is insane coming from the supposed leader of the local Assembly Democrat delegation. He basically told the reporter to go pound salt if she thinks she’ll get the truth from him.
Remember folks, THIS IS WHAT WE GET IF WE LET ONE PARTY RUN THIS ENTIRE STATE!
We’ll have no one but ourselves to blame.
