Jon Powers Accepts Tainted Money — He Should Be Ashamed of Himself!
I think the Tina Turner song Private Dancer is pretty sad. Do you remember these lyrics?

What’s even sadder than this is that Jon Powers has accepted of $7,000 from Rick Snowden, owner of strip clubs in Buffalo and Rochester. As we’ve said many times, this is a story the D&C hasn’t got around to yet. According to Sunday’s Buffalo News:
Congressional hopeful Jon Powers is drawing fire from a prominent Democrat for taking campaign contributions from Richard A. Snowden of Buffalo, whom she describes as a “notorious strip club owner.”
Not only has Powers accepted $7,000 from Snowden and his Rick’s Tally-Ho “gentleman’s cabaret” in Cheektowaga, but Snowden co-hosted a fundraising event for him Tuesday at the Saturn Club in Buffalo, according to former Wyoming County Democratic Chairwoman Anne Weidman.

“You are the candidate running on a slogan of ‘leadership by example,’ ” Weidman continued. “If you truly wish to lead by example, you should return Mr. Snowden’s three contributions and pledge to never accept campaign funds from those who profit from cultural misogyny and the exploitation of vulnerable young women.

But Powers campaign spokesman John Gerken said Weidman has been a recent Powers supporter, calling the situation “just politics” and adding the candidate has no plans to return the money.
Wow! Jon Powers — the fresh face for Congress and a man who has reached hero worship status with the leftist extremists, is taking money from a man who exploits women for a living. And now that he’s been caught red handed he’s not going to give it back. (Maybe this was some of the money he used to pay his rent during the previous FEC filing period.)
His spokesperson says the criticism is “just politics.” Isn’t he the same guy who said Powers didn’t have an opinion on gay marriage because it is a state issue.
I wonder what the women in Powers’ life think about this. I hope he doesn’t have a daughter — can you imagine trying to explain to her why Daddy takes money from a man who pays women to take their clothes off and dance?
Power’s has already shown he doesn’t like to follow the rules. I can’t wait to see the reaction to this one. If the NOW crowd had a problem with Powers being honored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, they should be all over this one.

Its “just politics”? Isn’t he the candidate who is running as a political outsider who vows the he will change the political atmosphere in Washington? I always thought that he was above normal politics and was going to be a change. However, he’s worse then most
Excellent story Equal! I’m going to bookmark the Buffalo News. They seem to write more fair stories about ALL candidates. Not just favorable ones for the Dems and negative ones for the GOP.
Will NOW come out and support women over a Democrat candidate? Not in a million, billion, cajillion years! The National Organization of Women is really not in the business of supporting women. It’s in the business of supporting Democrat candidates at the expense of women, hurt by the types of things Jon Powers seems to support. The exploitation of women and their bodies.
Some women do choose this as a profession, however, many more are using the easy money to support drug habits and are now trapped in the vicious cycle of co-dependency.
Accepting money would have been one thing, I don’t entirely subscribe to the “if someone endorses you with a check you are endorsing them.” However co-sponsoring a fundraiser is really something that is hard to just write off for the campaign.
This is just SICK, SICK, SICK!!! The owner of strips clubs held a fundraiser for Jon Powers and Powers accepted! These places are where degenerate men pay women to get naked and do God knows what else!
And Jon Powers refuses to give this disgusting sweat money back to this man who exploits women! As a woman I am shocked and disappointed at the way you are running your campaign.
Mr. Powers, you now have committed too many “mistakes” to be able to use excuses to explain them away. Your campaign is continuing to falter, adding now your apparent support for this trash.
My circle of friends intend to actively campaign against you now. You do not deserve the chance to represent us in Washington!
Could someone tell us if Mr. Powers is married? Does he have children? Does he have daughters? I doubt he is married, any decent wife would put the brakes on something like this fast.
I am pretty sure he is unmarried and does not have children. I actually met him a few times, once he introduced me to a woman he called his “girlfriend”. Also my wife, who is a registered Democrat, was called by the Monroe Democrats and given a phone survey. During that survey they basically give you all the good and bad qualities of all the Democratic candidates to test name recognition, strategies etc.
It was noted in that survey he was unmarried, had no children and the only two jobs he had, I believe, were the army and substitute teaching for a couple months.
