Democrats to the Media — “You’re Not Giving Us the Coverage We Want!”
This is hysterical. It just goes to show you how arrogant the local Democrat party machine is here in Rochester. Lemon Lymon wrote an interesting piece about Howard Dean’s visit to Rochester last week and how short of a bellowing scream, people don’t really care who Howard Dean is and what he has to say. He also reported how local democrat party hacks seemed to be acting like it was the second coming. So the top liberal elitist comes to town and Dems are supposed to sheep it up and baa in unison. Some naive liberal friends and a couple of lefty colleagues were so giddy, they looked like a group of schoolgirl tweens waiting in line for Hanna Montana tickets.
And they apparently thought that the press was going to scramble and trip over themselves trying to immortalize the DFA cult leader on film and audio. Equally, they also expected that their local Congressional candidates were going to receive the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of free television advertising as the press adopted each of them as their own personal pet projects for the upcoming campaign season. Getting 90% favorable coverage from the press isn’t enough. They really want 110% and would like to dictate exactly what the coverage will be.
This is what happens when you start believing your own hype, or BS, whichever you prefer.
Well, they got a nice little reality check and it seems to have made them mad. First it was just a couple of coworkers griping. I thought to myself, are you kidding? Welcome to our world where crappy and non-existent coverage is pretty much a daily expectation. You guys don’t get it exactly the way you want it for once and now you’re all pissed off?
Then I started reading some local liberal blog sites and there seems to be a tidal wave of liberal complaining raging across our area. Do local democrat party hacks really believe that the media is shoved that far down their hip pocket?
If you guys could figure out a way to end the presidential political primary infighting that is dividing your party, the media will stop focusing on it. Sorry, but your rock-star Howard Dean and local Congressional candidates really don’t matter, at least until the presidential primary is decided.
And maybe if Dean didn’t act like the arrogant liberal elitist that he is, brushing off our local press and dodging their questions, you might have gotten the coverage you demand. Even you guys can’t have it both ways with the media, regardless of who you think you might have on the inside.
Now, don’t get a freaked out by what I’m going to say next.
The local Democrat political party machine may actually have to accept that this year it will have to take what it can get from the media and be happy with it just like everyone else.
Oh the humanity!!!

Great article stampede. Funny how the democrats seem to think that they own the media. Pretty cocky if you ask me. I hope it backfires someday.
Good post stampede. I love reading the liberal/socialist/progressives over at rochester turning bitch about the local media. It’s kind of like Yankee fans complaining about coverage of their favorite team on the YES network.
