***BREAKING*** News 10 NBC Reports on “Anonymous Political Attack Mailer”

Did the Democrat political hit machine send this out?  If so, then the Democrats seem to be submerging themselves in political scandals lately.

In true Eliot Spitzer-esque fashion (no, it doesn’t involve hookers), the Democrats may have gone too over the top this time and could be in some serious trouble.

News 10 NBC reported this evening on an “anonymous political attack mailer” (their words, not mine) that targeted Republican state Senator Jim Alesi.  The news report stated that a similar mailer was also mailed into Senator Joe Robach’s district.

The anonymous mail pieces state that Alesi and Robach voted to give property tax cuts to Long Island residents and “not to us.”  The piece sites a legislative bill number to supposedly “prove” their accusation.

Alesi sums up this whole sordid thing pretty well:

“It’s a distortion of the facts which really in simple terms is a lie,” said Alesi. A lie, says Alesi, because the bill number included on the mailer was the final budget bill that was approved by the Assembly democrats and signed by the governor. And the increases were agreed to by all three sides. “So this mailer that’s going around saying we’re sending all this extra money to Long Island is a flat out lie. It’s a distortion. And it’s a disgrace because the people that spend somebody’s money on this mailer, won’t even tell you who they are.”

Here is the key point behind this story and the really bad part for the Democrats.

But if it were mailed out by a political party, that party is required to say who sent it.

That tells me, and we’ll look this up to confirm and will report back, that the Democrats (or whomever did this) may have broken election law here.  This is really bad.  First, someone needs to confirm who produced, sent and paid for these mailers.

Second, since David Koon is not running against Senator Alesi anymore, he’s off the hook here.  Koon might have been aware of this before he backed out of the race, but he’s effectively out of the hot seat now.  On the other hand, RICHard Dollinger has some explaining to do.

Did Dollinger know about this mail piece before it went out?  Did Dollinger sign off on it?  Did Dollinger pay to send this out himself?

At the very least, RICHard Dollinger needs to speak out against this piece, condem it and pledge to sign the League of Women Voters Fair Campaign Pledge this year.  If he doesn’t, he’s effectively defending this potential breaking of election law and is endorsing this type of vicious smear campaign tactics.  This will hang over his head throughout the campaign like a black cloud continually raining down on him.

We applaud the media for their investigation into this.  In order to clear the air and put this nasty garbage behind him, the media now needs to ask Mr. Dollinger what, if any, involvement he had and what he is doing to make sure this never happens again.  We hope this isn’t going to be a continuing theme of his campaign this year.  As an attorney, maybe Rick can explain if this is indeed illegal under state election law.

The voters deserve to know the truth when it comes to alleged illegal campaign activities.

  1. I am new to this forum.
Why is Richard Dollinger referred to as RICHard? Is he independently wealthy? What’s the deal?

  2. There is tremendous family wealth. His father owned a company and had big bucks and Bob Wegman was his mother’s second husband.

  3. And any person who can just forgive a $24,000 loan he made to his political campaign has GOT to be rich. I know I can’t just eat that kinda money. That’s a car anda half in my house.

Liberal/Progressives are constantly telling us how they don’t think rich people should be allowed to bankroll their political campaigns.

What Libs/Progs really mean is “rich republicans.” Apparently, it’s ok for “rich democrats” to bankroll their raices.

    Oooooohhh! Now I see.

    I see Hypocrites.
