Now don’t get me wrong here, I love craiglist.org. My friends, family and I all use it to make purchases and sell stuff. I even advertised my garage sale on it and several people commented that’s where they heard about it. I can’t believe I wasted the almost $40 to advertise in the D&C. I had more people reference the craiglist.org posting.
But imagine my surprise when I’m flipping through the job posting section and I come across this ad:
Full Time Political Fundraiser (Rochester)
Reply to: job-640915805@craigslist.org
Date: 2008-04-13, 2:33PM EDTThe New York State Democratic Senate Campaign Committee is looking for full-time fund raisers across the state of New York to work on high-profile State Senate races. Positions are available across the State (including Rochester) for both entry level and experienced fund raisers. Full training and supervision will be provided as necessary. However, an understanding and/or experience of political campaigns is helpful.
Please email resume and brief cover letter/statement explaining your interest in political campaign work. Applicants who do not include this statement will not be considered.Successful candidates will be contacted for a phone interview.
Yep, that is the New York State Senate Democrat Campaign Committee. The same committee that is desperately trying to take over the State Senate for the Democrats. It’s been their and former Governor Eliot Spitzer’s sole focus in state government. That, and giving driver licenses to illegal aliens.
Now the role of a candidate’s political fund raiser is probably just as important as the campaign manager itself. You’re in charge of raising (in this case) hundreds of thousands of dollars. Years of experience, knowledge of election law and plenty of financial contacts are needed in order to play the game at this level. And the Senate Democrat political machine can only fill this very important position for Spitzer’s handpicked candidate RICHard Dollinger by posting for the job on craiglist?
Well, it looks like they’re search is over and this extremely important position has been filled. Here’s portion of a blog post from the person hired by the party to run Dollinger’s fund raising effort. Being a blog “for college students” and from the http name, it makes me believe this person is a young, twenty-something female.
Starting Wednesday, May 7th I will be working as a Full-Time Fund raiser on former state Senator Richard Dollinger’s campaign to reclaim the 56th District Seat and win Democratic control over the New York State Senate! I was hired by the New York State Democratic Senate Campaign Committee (http//dscc.org/), and Richard Dollinger of course!
I will be working directly with Richard Dollinger everyday, having him make the important calls to raise funds for the campaign. There will also be fund raising event planning involved. He will literally need millions to run in the race and it’s my job to make sure he gets that money! I can’t wait!!!! I absolutely love politics and this is a career opportunity beyond my wildest dreams.
For those interested in political careers, I highly recommend checking out… craigslist – where I found this job!
First, no offense to this young, up and coming political operative, but if the Democrat Senate Campaign Committee has placed a twenty-something in charge of raising “millions of dollars” for Dollinger, the claims by Monroerising.com that his campaign is over before it even gets started is an understatement.
Second, Dollinger should let his newly hired fundraising director know that DSCC.org is the site for the NATIONAL Democrat Senate Campaign Committee, not the STATE Democrat Senate Campaign Committee. Mixing that up could affect Dollinger’s Board of Elections financial filing statements.
The Democrats don’t need another Dick Beebe on their hands.
