Lee On Track For Republican Congressional Nomination

Chris Lee appears to be in line for the designation as the Republican candidate to replace Congressman Tom Reynolds.  According to yesterday’s Buffalo News:

Businessman Christopher J. Lee is on track for the GOP endorsement to succeed incumbent Republican Thomas M. Reynolds in the House of Representatives, but other candidates are keeping their efforts very much alive as they lobby party leaders for their support.

Republican leaders will be meeting soon to decide on a candidate.  It was interesting to note that David Bellavia hasn’t learned anything since his gaffe introducing John McCain — when he compared Barack Obama to Tiger Woods.  Take a look at what he had to say about the Republican Chairman he should be trying to impress: [Read more →]

Pennsylvania Primary Analysis

Sorry for the late analysis on the Pennsylvania Primary. It was so exciting I fell asleep at 8:30 on Tuesday.

We keep hearing that Barack Obama is not stoppable and Hillary needs 60% of the remaining primaries to catch up in delegates. There are many problems with this. First of all we have 50 states. Last time I heard Florida and Michigan were part of the union. Florida is the 4th largest state. Remember how all the Democrats felt about Florida in 2000?

The next issue is the archaic Democratic system. Hillary won Texas big, almost by 5% of the vote, yet because of the double caucus Obama actually won more delegates! Obama seems to do well in caucus states. But when they have a conventional vote where MoveOn.org thugs can’t intimidate voters, Hillary does very well.

Right now Hillary is about 450,000 popular votes behind.  If you add Florida in she is ahead by a slim 20,000 votes.  If you include Michigan she is ahead by over 130,000 votes. I do not include Michigan because both were suppose to take their names off the ballot but only Obama did (is that smart by Hillary or dumb by Obama, what kind of President do you want?) Sandy Frankel to Primary RICHard Dollinger? Powell Also Considering Options

Add the Brighton-Pittsford Post to the list of organizations doing a better job covering local politics than the Democrat & Chronicle.  They have a story on the Democratic nomiation to run against Joseph Robach.  She throws down the gauntlet to Democratic Chairman Joseph Morelle:

Frankel said that with county chairman Assemblyman Joe Morelle endorsing Dollinger, it makes her job “more difficult” to secure the designation, but said she has been active in talking with committee members in her race for the designation.

“Joe (Morelle) doesn’t live in the district and it’s people who live in the district who really should be making this decision,” she said. (Editor’s note: It’s that what Maggie said about those judges who said the FAIR Plan was illegal?)“Democrats want to win the Senate back and I will do what we need to make that happen.” [Read more →]

Sandy Frankel’s Campaign Website Invites Calls To Brighton Town Hall

She’s at it again. Checkout Sandrafrankel.com and notice Sandy Frankel’s government office phone number and address is listed on her senate campaign website under the contact us section.  In case Mrs. Frankel removes it quickly (she did this last time we caught her) click here for an image

I’m pretty sure this is illegal.  If not, it is certainly unethical.  Maybe Andrew Cuomo’s Public Integrity Unit can investigate.  Call Sandy at Town Hall (784-5251) and tell her to stop using governmental resources for political purposes!

New Opportunity For RICHard Dollinger, Sandy Frankel And Willa Powell to Grandstand

So, the gang of three seeking to run against state Senator Joseph Robach, Democrats Willa Powell, RICHard Dollinger, and Sandy Frankel, were in Greece yesterday grandstanding for the latest special interest group, NOW of Greater Rochester.

They were protesting because they felt Robach didn’t support their cause — having government decide how much people working in various jobs should be paid.  Many feel this legislation is unnecessary because there is this thing called the “free market” that has worked pretty well since before the founding of our Republic.  The Democrat and Chronicle was the only media outlet covering the event – they sent cub reporter Kate Perry, to cover this event.

RICHard Dollinger was the biggest hypocrite of the bunch.  According to the D&C:

Dollinger, Robach’s predecessor who held the 56th state Senate district seat from 1993 to 2002, accused Robach of ducking out on a vote that would have released a stronger pay-equity bill from committee.

Wait a minute, isn’t this the same guy who “ducked out” of the Senate in 2002 when he found out he was going to have a tough race?  Isn’t this the same guy who “ducked out” when he was elected chair of the Monroe County Democratic Committee because he wanted to pursue his life long dream of being a judge?  In case you don’t know, the answer is yes to both. Why Is Obama So Fragile?

I am starting to see a trend with Barack Obama. He is fragile! It sure is difficult for a politically correct party like the Democrats to say anything about him. Lets take a look at his fragility.

The first time I noticed was when Maureen dowd then made a comment about his ears. Obama took her aside and let her know how sensitive he is about his ears. Next Senator Biden said he was clean. It was obvious to everyone he meant that he did not have the baggage of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. This comment stopped Biden’s presidential bid in its tracks. The Senator has a penchant for saying stupid things and I have enjoyed his foot in his mouth on many occasions, but this was too easy.

The President give him that terrible insult by saying he was articulate. After it was explained to me why calling an African-American person, articulate is an insult, I still can’t agree with it.  If someone told me I am articulate I would smile and say thank you. [Read more →]

Hillary Uses Bin Laden In Ad Against Obama

Take a look at the latest in the Pensylvania primary.  Hillary uses images of fear in latest commercial.

We Tried to Warn Chief Moore About Standing Too Close to Assemblyman Felix Ortiz

A couple of months back, in an effort to be helpful, we warned Rochester Police Chief Moore about attending a press conference with New York City area Assemblyman Felix Ortiz.  The guy is a real whacko.  We are sensitive to the need to schmooze the Hispanic community, but hanging out with Assemblyman Ortiz isn’t the way to go.

According to today’s Albany Times Union, Ortiz obtained $4,000 in state pork barrel for a group that former members claim is a cult. The Times Union says:

Ortiz said he sponsored the expenditure in the 2008-2009 budget because the group asked him for funding for services at Brooklyn senior citizen centers.

He said he did not know anything about the foundation but he had heard good things about it from Raices, a Brooklyn-based senior services organization to which he has sent $2,000 in member items annually for several years. AR hasn’t received public funding in the 13 years it has been providing senior programs in New York City.

The real problem though, is that this group claims it can “cure” homosexuality.  Again according to the TU: [Read more →]

They Bought My Art — But Now It’s In A Box And My Feelings Are Hurt!

Artist are a weird bunch — no new news there, but how about that front page piece in the D&C about the Midtown Plaza Clock being shown at the airport?  Evidently, Wendel Castle and his wife Nancy Jurs are upset because their artwork, purchased by the County for the airport almost 20 years ago, is in storage because of renovations.

After causing a stink last year because their “artwork” was in storage, they are upset now because it was announced that the Midtown Plaza Clock will be on display at the airport until it is moved to its permanent home in 2012.  Castle said:

“The fact my clock is being replaced by 1960s kitsch makes no sense at all,” Castle said. “It’s very hurtful, taking mine down and putting a piece of junk in its place. The Midtown clock has zero artistic value.”

Who is Castle to call anything junk?  Have you ever seen those pieces of junk he and his wife were paid $125,000 for?  [Read more →]

Friends Don’t Let Friends Editorialize While Drunk

A reliable source of amusement each week is the “Thumbs Up Thumbs Down” section on the Saturday editorial page.  Our paper of record briefly describes an event or issue, and then, as moral arbiter, proclaims whether it is ”Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down.”

I especially like it when they give a Thumbs Up to some girl scouts who raise $57.12 for a charity right before they give a thumbs down to a sociopath who just went on a 6 state murder/cannibalism/check kiting/puppy killing spree.  Way to take a strong moral stand against murder, cannibalism, check kiting, and puppy killing!

Also humorous is the way in which the editorial board attempts to sum up a complicated issue in a single sentence or two.  It is even better when the board attempts this feat after drinking seven blueberry almond martinis, as they did this Saturday:

THUMBS DOWN: for the continued focus on “gotcha” politics in the presidential race - misremembering, the use of certain words and personal relationships.  The focus on nonissues was on display in this week’s Pennsylvania debate between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama.

What does that even mean?  It is nearly impossible to analyze the substance of this statement.  It was either written by someone who was intoxicated or it was translated from Chinese.  Is the Democrat and Chronicle outsourcing its editorial page to China?  I always suspected that the editorials were being written by evil communists.
