Sandy Frankel to Primary RICHard Dollinger? Powell Also Considering Options
Add the Brighton-Pittsford Post to the list of organizations doing a better job covering local politics than the Democrat & Chronicle. They have a story on the Democratic nomiation to run against Joseph Robach. She throws down the gauntlet to Democratic Chairman Joseph Morelle:
Frankel said that with county chairman Assemblyman Joe Morelle endorsing Dollinger, it makes her job “more difficult” to secure the designation, but said she has been active in talking with committee members in her race for the designation.
“Joe (Morelle) doesn’t live in the district and it’s people who live in the district who really should be making this decision,” she said. (Editor’s note: It’s that what Maggie said about those judges who said the FAIR Plan was illegal?)“Democrats want to win the Senate back and I will do what we need to make that happen.”

Despite being out of the race for the Democratic designation, Powell said that she was never “aggressively seeking” the designation and is keeping her options open regarding a primary, which would take place Sept. 9. Powell said that if she receives support from another party, she will stay in the race. If not, she may drop out, but wouldn’t say for sure.
Frankel also said that she is considering the issue of a primary if she doesn’t receive the Monroe County Democratic Committee designation.

It seems that Joe Morelle is following in the footsteps of his predecessors…
He’s losing control of his party.
Primaries cost a lot of money and and fracture the party since each one’s supporters are going to be mad that their favorite liberal elitist lost.
After watching Sandy Frankel, RICHard Dollinger and Willa Powell over the years, this is gonna be one very nasty and typical mudslinging campaign.
Problem is, that is exactly what the public is sick and tired of seeing.
I still don’t understand why Morelle joined with Elliot Spitzer to pick Dollinger to run. He’s the worst of this pretty poor group but looks like the forgone annointed conclusion.
So much for supporting female candidates. Not when there’s a perfectly good rich, white, liberal elitist man lying around!
What’s it gonna cost Paterson outta pocket (I’m assuming Spitzer’s campaign funds have been frozen by the government due to that little three felony count hooker thingy) just soDollinger can tank the race and be handed his judgeship reward?
