Will McCain’s Honesty Be A Problem?

Will John McCain’s honesty cause problems for him? Lets look at a some statements and actions that he has made and done.

1. He admitted economics is not his strong suit. The fact is most Presidential candidates don’t really understand economics. Hillary is either very ignorant about economics or she truly believes in socialism. She openly touts that she will take money from evil oil companies. She will bail out gamblers who took huge risks buying homes with risky mortgages.

Senator Obama, who I believe is a very smart man, will raise taxes on the people who create jobs, in the name of social justice. Does he really believe a CEO who makes a million dollars and provides jobs should pay about 60% of that income to the government? Even though he says his knowledge on economics is low, he has always looked closely at spending and has not backed tax cuts when they did not have spending cuts as well. That is ECO-101 and he should be admired for that.

2. Senator McCain does not believe he should use his opponents name disrespectful. Whenever he refers to Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton he calls them Senator. When the issue comes up of what he thinks of them, he says that he respects and likes them. When was the last time you heard a Democrat running for office using the title “President” Bush? It’s always George Bush or even worse some derogatory name.

3. Crosses the aisle: John McCain often will cross the aisle while creating or supporting legislation. This drives many conservatives crazy. Senator McCain does not believe that Democratic ideas are better than Republican ones, but he believes in what ideas are good for America. He has always been this way. Early in his career he had both Democratic and Republican mentors and always looked for what is best for the country.

4. The largest risk that he truly believes in is his support of the war in Iraq. Senator McCain understands the dangers and the consequences of unconditional pullout or defeat. He also understands the true evil that the enemy represents. Senator Obama says things like I opposed it from the beginning and always have. When the fact of the matter is he has actually waffled on it. He made statements against it as a State Senator. There is much evidence that he supported it when things were going well at the start. He has also missed many votes on the war, what kind of leadership is that? Senator Clinton says things like “ If I knew then what I know now”. Wow, what leadership!

Senator McCain has been honest and straightforward and consistent with his beliefs. This is refreshing and truly a different kind of politics. I believe that as he is put beside of his rivals he will shine.
