Well Excuse Me, Rottenchester Was Right!

Dear Readers,

When I am wrong I must admit it. I owe a “Hats off to Rottenchester”. It looks like Hillary Clinton owing possibly $20milion after her defeat is definitely no reason to pull out of the race. $20m would be tip money to her. It appears that the Clinton’s have made a ton of money since Bill left office. According to Time Magazine they made $109m since 2000.

I must question, what did they do to earn $109m? Hillary makes a $150k a year in the Senate and Bill has a pension of 186k for being an ex president.  Some of the amounts in 2007 came from his book which made him $4m. (I wonder how many copies the Emir of Dubai bought) There is $2.75m in partnership income. It’s possible they have been investing in McDonald’s franchises? No actually that was a partnership in supermarket chains with the Emir of Dubai. (I thought we weren’t suppose to be doing business with Dubai, or maybe thats just when a Republican president is involved with large deals that will help our country)  He sure did make a lot of money speaking though, over $10m mostly in foreign countries.  So it appears that what they were doing is peddling their influence around the world. However on the bright side it appears that they donated $10m to charity. Oh wait that charitable organization was to the Clinton Foundation.

Now for my last question. Why haven’t they been paying the health care of their campaign staff?

  1. I predict this will be my favorite headline of the day.

To answer your last question, my guess is that the Clinton campaign is slow-paying their bills to manage their cash flow so they can pay for ads in the final states. They’ll eventually cover their bills, but it is bad PR and shows weakness and poor judgment. Which isn’t surprising — there’s been a lot of that in their campaign.

Also, remind me what’s so bad about the Clinton Foundation? Isn’t it inevitable that the foundations of wealthy people are used (at least peripherally) to advance the well-being of their benefactors. For example, even the Gates foundation, which is good enough for Warren Buffet, does things like specify that the PCs they give schools must run Windows, and ignores projects like OLPC which don’t run Windows.

In other words, isn’t the world a better place with $10 million donated to his foundation, than it would be if Bill spend that $10 mil on, say, a private jet?

  2. Hey Rottenchester, I am sure you are right, they are saving their powder for the end, too bad for her Obama has money for now and later. No cash flow problem in the Obama camp.

What’s so bad about the Clinton Foundation? The answer is it has the Clintons running it. It will always have to be questioned on what political purposes it is being used for, just because it has the “Clinton” name attached to it. I am curious about who their other donors are? He may be using it for the best of reasons, however their image has become one that will always be questioned. I hope he does use it for good non-political reasons. from what they have demonstrated I don think he has it in him to be a-political.

I would be much more respectful of him if they directly donated at least some of the money to a non-profit that they do not control. I Donate about 10% myself and do not give it to one group, do you make 100% of your tax deductable donations to the same group?
