Chili Supervisor Dave Dunning Isn’t Such A Bad Guy After All

Let me ask you a question.  Who would you rather go to lunch with, Chili Supervisor Dave Dunning or Former Chili Supervisor Tracy Logel?  I’ve never met Dave Dunning, but he would be my choice — so I can’t really hold it against him that a majority of Chili residents feel the same way.

City News is reporting that  Dunning came to his senses and is becoming a Republican. According to City News, Dunning issued a statement that said in part:

The rest of Chili’s town board is Republican, and Dunning said it would be difficult to campaign against people he has come to respect and trust. It could also potentially create gridlock and hard feelings in the town, he writes.

I saw some of the comments over at Rochesterturning.com regarding this story.  Conspiracies are running wild over there.  Steve Minarik is behind this, no wait it’s Bernie Iacovangelo, Dunning was a Republican in sheep’s clothing, etc.  Maybe Dunning just had enough of the city based agenda of the people he had to work with in the Democratic Party.

If I was Bernie Iacovangelo (Republican Leader of Chili) I would welcome Dunning into the party.  Many ex-Democrats have gone on be very productive Republicans.  Dave Bonnacci was elected as a Democrat and was re-elected as a Republican.

I hope local Republicans welcome Dave Dunning into the fold.  It took a lot of courage for him to take this step — he appears to be a man of character.
